I'm confused. Is Kodos known for onion-bringing? I didn't even know that was a thing. Is there some sordid backstory here I'm missing?

I rather liked the Bat-Thread. There are plenty of less than savory websites out there to read old comics on, by the by. You'll usually want a good pop-up blocker on your webbrowser though. Choco, do you know anything about Comicastle? At one time they had the 1937 series of Detective Comics available for free reading, all the way back to the first issue, and I was able to catch up on a lot of the issues I had newver seen before. But, some time back, their links to those issues, altho still listed, didn't work any longer. I'm really sorry that happened. Can't remember now exactly what the message was when I clicked on one of those issues of Detective Comics, and haven't tried lately to see if the links are still not working.

I have not been to that particular site. I mostly use readcomiconline.to for my online comic reading. Again a reminder, you'll NEED a pop-up blocker if you want to use that site. If you use chrome, I recommend the extension "U-Block Origin" (which is different from regular U-Block). I can confirm that that site has the complete run of Detective Comics. The original run went up to issue 961 before the "Rebirth" event recently (recently being a few years ago now) reset the whole numbering setup at DC for all kinds of complex reasons.

I just know Piffles is very opposed to onions. And foods from the briny deep.

Choco, thanks again for pointing me to a webpage that has Just What I Wanted. I'm now getting caught up on Detective Comics, before and after the "New Look" of 1964. One long-standing staple of Batman in both Detective Comics and Batman was the Giant Props shtick, going back to the 1930s. After the New Look, the Giant Props disappeared for the most part, although I have come across a few latter day revivials of that gimmick. But, as far as I know Giant Props never returned to their former glory. In a way, I liked the Giant Props but I also tought they were a bit overdone. Also, after the New Look started, Robin saying, "Holy" what was it?, Great Scott and other exclamations, disappeared, although the Holy You Name it did reappear in the comic books after it was expanded on in the TV show. Legend and lore has it that the comic books often followed Batman and Robin as portrayed in the movie serials, and later the TV show. I know I said these things on the old board, but this is the Firstime on the new board, so they need repeating. I can't, offhand, think of any examples of the Giant Props being used in Worlds Finest Comics, at least after the regular teaming up of Batman, Robin and Superman in WF 71. I would think the Giant Props might have been just as frequently used in the Batman and Robin stories in Worlds Finest before the book downsizing with the 3 superheroes in one story per isssue. However, I have not read a whole lot of the Pre-issue 71 Batman and Robin stories in Worlds Finest to be certain of this.

I also don't remember if I posted the panel where Superboy says, "I farted (something, forget what) on the old board or not. I would have to check the comic books thread on the old board to be sure.
Any one remember that one?
It got lost from my computer files in my last big crash sometime back, and I can't remember where it was that I found it in the first place.

If I'm remembering correctly, the giant props was definitely a Bill Finger gimmick, which would explain why it wasn't used in things he wasn't involved in.
Speaking of ol' digit, I'm in the camp that believes Bob Kane did no more than come up with the name "Bat-Man" and Bill Finger did all the actual creating and got stiffed. By all accounts, Kane was an asshole too. There's a pretty great story by the amazing Jim Steranko about once getting to punch out Kane at a comics convention around the late 70s or so.

My mom asked me just the other day (as she was trying to convince me that a fried up burnt weenie was suitable breakfast fare) when I became so picky about food. I wanted to say that happened once I left the Home Bubble and moved out into the world and discovered that green stuffing (secret ingredient: pickles) isn't served with most Thanksgiving meals and French toast is not prepared by putting the bread in the toaster first before getting eggy with it.
