Good thing I found my CD burner! Bonnastole, motherfucker! I could hardly find any of the bands even represented on the Usenet (which is usually really good for rare music), let alone the specific tracks used for the movie.

Bottoms Two high schoolers start a girls-only fight club. Was reading favorable comments on that earlier today. Thoughts?

It was fine. Not as incredible as all the hype, but it was fun.

Watched "Hundreds of Beavers" (2022) last night on an online recommendation. Goofy fun from the folks who brought us "Lake Michigan Monster" (2018) (which I saw a few months ago).

"Crash!" (1977) completely lost me almost from the git go and never ended up making a lick of sense. But, if you like watching cars jumping over and into stuff (usually other cars) and then bursting into flaming death traps, here you go! They even do a montage later in the movie of all the crashes and explosions up til then. They're obviously proud of them and have every right to be. Some crazy stunt work had to have been involved. The black, driver-less Camaro convertible was one of the best evil film cars ever. That engine fucking growls on queue at times. Just don't even try to make any sense of the plot, though. I felt kind of bad for both Jose Ferrer and Sue Lyons. Totally expected John Carradine, who they apparently had for a day and it shows.

Two totally different movies over the past two nights.
Wednesday was "Bachelor Mother" (1939) with Ginger Rogers and David Niven. It was sweet and amusing and I had no idea Rogers was as funny as she is in this. Very slight expression changes and perfect comedic timing. I only knew of her as second fiddle to Fred Astaire, but she's honestly a better actor (judging by this).
Last night was "Terror Night" (1989) which I liked more than most, judging by the IMDb scores. Yes, it's riddled with plot holes, and they have a lot of nerve displaying Cameron Mitchell on the box art. Mitchell, Dan Haggerty and others show up only long enough to die. But they did a fine job with the silent movie mat art and flashbacks and Michelle Bauer looks great fully nude as always. Sure, it's just another dumb slasher, but I enjoyed it more than most dumb slashers.

Intrigued by the notion that horror fans will watch any old damn thing and find something to like about it (see "Confessions" thread), I put it to the test last night. I grabbed a handful of unwatched horror and thriller flicks and found the one with the lowest IMDb score and gave it a go.
That movie was "Dying God" (2008) and it gets a 2.8 aggregate score. Granted, it's not the brightest moment in Lance Henrickson's career, but I've seen worse movies. It's about a series of brutal murders of prostitutes by an unknown assailant sporting a horse cock, and I think it's that premise alone that gave it a bad rep. James Horan plays an almost comically corrupt cop and Lance doesn't even turn up until half way in. Not sure if they intended on it, but it's almost a running joke that Horan will start something - be it a cigarette, beer, coffee, or pizza slice, and be interrupted. Trust me, this is NOT a "good" movie, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. So yeah, I guess horror fans really do have low, low standards.
