I have a repeating nightmare in which I am a bipedal primate. Same.

Had a nightmare shortly before waking up today. I don't recall much leading up to the finale, but it was the usual dream whatevers until I, bothered by something in my left heel, sat down to have a look. I discovered the head of a nail-like object sticking out of my heel. As I futzed around with it, I discovered that it led down into my foot where other bands and metal shrapnel were surrounding my heel and much of the rest of my foot. All this in grisley reddish hues with gory sound effects to boot. It was as if someone had crafted some terrible "Saw" (movie) contraption inside my foot, only how that could have occurred without my knowledge I'll leave to dream logic. Can sound effects be gory?

They can in a nightmare.

Super-nice dream in which I saw a lot of ppl I haven't seen in ages, mostly owing to them being dead. I even saw Giant Kitteh!

Sounds like a lovely dream indeed!
I had a really happy dream a couple of weeks ago. I may actually have more of those than nightmares. Maybe the nightmares just stick in the memory more when we awaken?

I don't know that I've had a nightmare per se in quite some time, which is not to say that disturbing things don't sometimes happen, but they often seem to be far less alarming within the context of the dream. More unsettling than frightening.
Anxiety dreams, on the other hand....

Anxiety dreams, on the other hand.... With anxiety dreams you don't need nightmares. I dreamed last night that the county prosecutor-- not the real one, it was some guy I've never seen before but, in the dream we knew each other -- gave me a box wrapped in bright orange shiny paper, saying it was mail-in votes for Trump and I had to make sure I mailed them off before the post office closed. He gave me a smaller, plainer package saying it contained mail-in ballots for Joe Biden. I fell asleep and the next morning I realized the election had happened and the votes were still unmailed. The rest of the dream was about figuring out what to do with the packages -- it never occurred to my dumb ass to destroy the evidence any more than it had occurred to the prosecutor to mail them out himself -- and quietly not wanting to find out who had won the election while I was sleeping, even though part of me was sure it was Biden.

Had a "lost in the parking lot/where's my car?"-dream last night. Thanks subconscious!

The night before the election I dreamed over and over that the guy in the pickelhaube with the huge Trump flag on the back of his Harley showed up at the polls, strode up to me, pulled out a shotgun and killed me. It did not help at all that when I got there, the weather and the light and the way the sky looked were all exactly the same as in the dream. I was even standing at the same place on the sidewalk for quite some time. But there were police cars circling and a cop posted by the ballot machine, so I took comfort in that. Pickelhaube Boy never showed up at all that I saw.

That is messed up that the sky and all were the same as the dream! I don't think I've ever been shot in a dream. Wait. Scratch that.

Remember how I said I haven't had a nightmare in a while? Well, this wasn't a nightmare per se, but it had the same essential effect. I was hanging around with the characters from Person of Interest (continuing a recent trend of the things I watch before bedtime invading my dreams with remarkable frequency) and the schtick was that they were protecting a pregnant woman, only it turned out that I was responsible for said pregnancy and realized that I was going to have to reconcile myself to being a father. The relief I experienced when I woke up and realized it wasn't real was intense.

I think you're more likely to wake up during a nightmare which helps you remember it.

Yeah, that's probably it.

And now last night I dreamed I was in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and it was a particularly successful dream, as I spent most of it wooing Detective Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz, see below) and she was quite amenable to it all. Beatriz studied dance, so she's got this dancer's body that's just...yeah.

So here's an odd little one, from Friday night:
I was back in the library of the boarding school Marxo Grouch and I attended together, though in the context of the dream I was probably about the age I am now. I decided to sit down and boot up one of the old Apple II computers that used to live in there, when suddenly the door opened and in walked our old math teacher, carrying a box that held a Pi Spark computer cluster, hooked up to a battery array made out of various kinds of fruits (mostly cantaloupes, I think). Now without rehashing my childhood (poor Marxo Grouch has had to put up with my various confused reminisces over the years), Mr. _ and I truly never did get along --he mostly held me in contempt, and eventually vice-versa--so, though I was actually quite interested in his new invention* all that happened was we got into an argument. Much to my surprise, I had the better of the dispute, although he got in one parting shot as he walked out the door: "By the way, I sold everybody's name and address to the Discovery Channel after I left." This one might just be too weird to get anything out of....
*Disagreements aside, I respected the man as a computer programmer, or at least I used to. I have to assume he still codes and is probably still good at it.

I was having a dream last night, and it ended when an angry face suddenly popped up directly in front of my line of sight, much as if I'd been caught spying through someone's window. It was so jarring, I woke up. I wonder if I astral projected and someone wherever it was sensed me?

We gotta have a little talk, buddy.

No idea what the dream was about anymore, but the last thing it left me with as it disintegrated in my awakening mind was the slogan of a boutique or website or catalog or something:
"Shoes you kind of felt like you wanted for reasons you can no longer fathom."
