Now there's one I haven't heard in ages! I's one of those tunes I always liked, but couldn't even tell you the artist.

Really insistent this morning. I need to point out that the song's title uis not "The Morning After." It was never called anything but "The Song From THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE":

Finally found something by this band on CD -- I have the vinyl, but my turntable needs a new needle cartridge. Had to order it through a broker in Japan to get it shipped from France. What the fuck happened to my 1980's?

It's not a song, but two lines from two different songs have been spliced together in my mind and are playing on repeat:
"We're two little lambs who have lost our way, Singing cockles, and mussels..."
PLEASE MAKE IT STOP

If it's the latter, I think I can get your down to only one song running on repeat...

I'm hearing "two" but I have no desire to worsen the situation by looking up the song...

Yes indeedy. And then they start singing about shellfish like Molly Malone, and (sob)

Have they lost their way, baa, baa, baa..?
Yes indeedy. And then they start singing about shellfish like Molly Malone, and (sob) See if these lines from the original song help any:
To the legion of the lost ones, to the cohort of the damned, To my brethren in their sorrow overseas, Sings a gentleman of England cleanly bred, machinely crammed, And a trooper of the Empress, if you please. Yea, a trooper of the forces who has run his own six horses, And faith he went the pace and went it blind, And the world was more than kin while he held the ready tin, But to-day the Sergeant's something less than kind.
We're poor little lambs who've lost our way, Baa! Baa! Baa! We're little black sheep who've gone astray, Baa—aa—aa!
Gentlemen-rankers out on the spree, Damned from here to Eternity, God ha' mercy on such as we, Baa! Yah! Bah!

My friends in college were bigger Social Distortion fans than I was, although I liked them. I downloaded a live album from 1997 recently and a number of the songs have been reoccurring in my head recently, these two in particular (they took me right back to the early '90s):
