Batman 1966 TV Show

I just did a ZAQB search on Batman, and got 4 pages of posts, most of it to my threads on the movie theater serials.

Some on general comic book threads.

But, I couldn't find a thread specifically on the 1966 Batman TV show.

So, reluctantly, I am starting a thread.

This one is good, because it mentions that the TV show saved the Batman comic books from cancellation, and discusses various aspects of both the TV show and the comic books in the mid 1960s.

And, the baskets and bulges matter is touched upon, vaguely mentioning complaints by "religious and conservative" groups.  In my readngs on the matter, the only "religious group" I knew of complaining was specifically the Catholic Church, with no mention of any other "religious groups."

Sometimes a writer does have to be vague about things, when they don't have specific evidence at hand, so that is OK.

But, Conservative Groups complaining about the Dynamic Duo's baskets?

I find that hard to believe.

Why would any "Condservative groups" have any interest in the bulges of Batman and Robin?

Even some liberals object to the Dynamic Duo. A quite-liberal friend of mine vowed never, never to expose her children to Batman again because she saw Adam West and Burt Ward being interviewed on a talk show and they were ribbing each other about the homoerotic undertones of the masked vigilantes. "They're perverts!" she squealed in horror.

Same as people would never let their little snowflakes watch Pee Wee Herman again because they heard he was a child pornographer. Even though he wasn't.  Never, never let facts get in the way of your beliefs, ppl!

See, I'd argue - and modern times finally seem to have caught up to this notion - that she couldn't reasonably call herself a liberal with that attitude. What year was this?

Right before I got tired of her telling me that my life wasn't proceeding according to her standards in between bulletins about her drunk-driving arrests. 10 years ago? A little longer? Hey, the definition of "liberal" is as vast and sprawling as the definition of "jagoff." The chances of any 2 liberals believing most of the same things are pretty tiny, even these days with the line-item veto in total eclipse...

Meanwhile, on the local Craigslist "Activity Partners" section:
