There are some circumstances (very elderly dogs or puppy-mill rescue dogs) where the animal's teeth are badly rotten. If their teeth are extracted under anesthesia, and they receive good follow up veterinary care, they live very happily on soft food --sometimes for years. But, they're still dogs. So they shake their heads, and their tongues go flooping around. Poor puppers. That's gotta be worse than a declawed cat, being a dog with no fangs. May well be so. But it's also got to be better than a mouth full of pain. I guess it's a lesser of two evils kind of thing. |

This is some scary-ass stuff:
Just as some background: the boarding school Marxo Grouch and I attended was a church school. And it was a weird mixture of liberal and conservative stuff happening --though the overall balance sheet tipped towards the right in many places. But even the most conservative folks I ran into were not praying for God to protect them with "thorns and fire". Nor were they insisting that their personal superstitions (and somewhat less superstitious theological concepts) be made into law. |
