A quickie thread for saying things that we got genuine pleasure out of in this fairly shitty year, whether big or small.
Making my way through Meat Puppets releases that I don't know, having realized that they really are one of my all-time favorites, I found an amazing EP called You Love Me from the end of the '90s that finds them even punkier in places and almost certainly higher in general than usual. Apparently, it was some sort of promo release, not a "real" release, but it's an utterly bizarre delight.

2019 was just a "maintaining" year for me. It started off stressful at the job with horrendous hours, and by year's end, I was into a much happier place in every respect at work.*
*But for the recent news about the coworker, natch.

Amazingly, my lifelong war with my brother appears to have ended. After everyone else left the house at Squidmas we sat and talked --!!!-- for a couple of hours with no bloodshed.
This week I even made peace with the idea that if his worst fear came true and my sister found a way to kick him out on the street, that he could come live with me.

2019 had several ups and downs. Nonetheless, at least in terms of material success and prosperity, Frau Caution and yours truly did pretty damn well. Especially considering we're both public employees in a right-wing state. Gratitude extended to the universe for this. May other Zombies have like success in the coming year --because let's face it, having enough to get by is a damn good thing.

Standing on the moonlit beach in the wee hours on Fire Island with my brother and sister-in-all-but-law talking about creative projects and actually filming a small scene for a Lovecraft-related project she was working on.

In 2019, I did not have to put on my "Home Despair and Improvement" outfit.

I changed jobs in 2019. December was hell, but otherwise it's so much better. No more getting up at 4 in the morning to drive three hours!
