And we all know how much you enjoy being on fire. Ouch. Hell with that shit. I mean for me personally. If it works for you? Great! Certainly our dear boy isn't flaming.

Has anyone here seen the 1986 version of Invaders from Mars with Karen Black?

I did in 1986. Can't say as I remember much about it at this point.

It's been like, 25 years at least since I've seen it. It's...okay, I remember that much.

I consider the original to be one of the best science-fiction/horror films ever. The remake doesn't get bad marks (for the genre) on the IMDb, so hopefully it won't tarnish the memory of the first. I'm still debating. I should probably just sit down to the first one again.

Yeah, I remember the remake being pretty good. Even as remakes go. I'd say it ranks high in Hooper's catalog.

All I remember about the remake is what Jeff said about it. "It has Paul LeMat in it." I don't know if he meant that as an endorsement or a warning.

I know of exactly two other movies LeMat is in, and one of them is on a double feature with my copy of Invaders From Mars. (That would be Strange Invaders, which is kinda a low-rent version of Charlie Sheen's The Arrival)

Charlie Sheen's arrival is something we all could have done without.

Anyone have advice on keeping the air conditioning bill to a minimum during the summer months? I'm trying out leaving the system off from about 2:30pm-to-1am (when I get home from work), and leaving it set at 75-degrees when I'm home. For a big place, it cools down quick enough, and I can't imagine it's any rougher on the system leaving it off through the worst of the day.

For a big place, it cools down quick enough, and I can't imagine it's any rougher on the system leaving it off through the worst of the day. Keep it off when you're not home, and keep it above 75° when you are. Running it when you're not home is pretty much a waste. If you want it cool when you get home from work, get a programmable thermostat (wifi thermostats are all the rage now) and have it kick on 30 minutes before you're due. If you have curtains and shades keep them closed. The less sunlight in the house the cooler it will be. All the other advice is really impractical: replace your windows, install solar panels to offset electricity costs, surround your house with lots of large trees.

Thank you. Sounds like solid advice. I'm going to monitor my bill and see how much I save this cycle over last time. It's going to be difficult to set it higher than 75, but if it will mean a decent drop in the billing, I can probably learn to live with it there.

I don't have AC so most days my house is in the high 70s. It's more bearable than you might think.
