Also, no matter what Billy A. Anderson wants to eat, he seems to want to eat it in the shower. Or so I have gathered thus far. Lemmy, right now, I can't recall eating anything in the shower, altho I done lived so long I can't say so with Absolute Certainty.

I think I have a fairly good idea of what a traditional Philly steak is "supposed to be like" going by what I've sampled over many visits to my brother. He says that traditional wisdom is that the best actually need to be sought out in smaller places, better than Pat's and Geno's. I've only ever eaten from Pat's. I chose them first because apparently they're known to be a bit more lefty, while Geno's has a reputation for being kind of right wing traditionalist. The latter also purportedly have the better sandwich, upon which I cannot comment, as, again, I haven't had one. I do plan on having one eventually, politics be damned, but my brother and sister-in-all-but-law moved, so they're not as close to there as they used to be.

Three Facts: Geno's is the more popular of the two. Geno's has a bunch of cop sucking nonsense plastered on their building. Pat's makes a better cheesesteak.

Even Philly cheesesteaks have polarized into left and right? How do Pat and Geno express it in terms of sandwiches? Cheez Whiz vs. Kraft singles? Beef slices on the right and tempeh on the left? The very idea is obscene.

The very idea is obscene. If I'm remembering correctly, some businesses have always cultivated a relationship with cops --it's an inexpensive way to tap into a network of folks who are almost ALWAYS going to be buying their lunches at least some of the time. If the business owner is also right wing, it's a match made in...well, made somewhere, anyway. As political polarization has gotten worse, cops --always a group that covered a range of attitudes from "messed up by the job" to "can't decide if I want to be a Klansman or a Nazi, so why not be both?"-- have swung even further out to the right.
That said, I've known individual cops who were actually pretty sane, and even liberal-ish. But this was a quarter century ago. And the asshole cops were always there, too.
