You're going to be brutalized by Hocus Pocus. What part? I love "Hocus Pocus". Honestly, it did take me years to finally get around to it. I even kind of liked the second one, while most people just shit all over it. I probably will pass on "Hubie Halloween" (unless anyone can convince me it's worth a shot).
I would like to know where the pic below originates. Looks like cheapo family Halloween fare. "Halloweentown", maybe?

"Paranorman" wasn't my cup of tea, either.

If anyone can find me a nice upgrade print of "From Beijing with Love" [1994] (subbed or dubbed pls), that'd be the bee's knees. It's such a fun movie, but my old from-VHS print is subpar at best.

Before Juniper moved in with me, and I had nobody's taste to answer to but my own, the DVD in my collection that had been played the most times was, without doubt, Zombie Lake. ZOMBIE FUCKING LAKE, people!

ZOMBIE FUCKING LAKE, people!People aren't typically kind to "Zombie Lake", but for me it's in a rare sub-sub-category of zombie films: the water zombie, and it gets extra points from me just for that in itself. I don't remember where it first manifested, but there's something especially dreadful to me about undead lurking in or under the water. It might have to do with the "slow motion" feeling of being surrounded by water as opposed to land. Gives me nightmare shivers imagining trying to get away from a damn zombie in such a situation. Perhaps my first exposure to the concept was the old E.C. Comics tale "Horror We? How's Bayou?" illustrated by "Ghastly" Graham Ingles. There are lots of individual scenes in movies (like the muddy pool scene in "Poltergeist" or crossing the harbor in "Land of the Dead" or the zombie/shark battle in "Zombi 2") and some whole movies that work with the premise. The movie "Swamp of the Ravens" has some creepy water zombie scenes, though it's otherwise kinda slow. I honestly feel the same about "Shock Waves". "The Deep House" had some very scary underwater undead scenes.
I feel like that favorite water zombie movie (for me) is still waiting to be made. Maybe a very loose adaptation of the Delphine LaLaurie story where her murdered slaves come back from the swamp lands to take revenge?

Way back in '85 or '86, when my family got our first VCR, one of the first tapes I rented had a trailer for Shock Waves after the film (although I think it might have used the alternate title, Almost Human). Those two minutes alone were mesmerizing, and Shock Waves itself fully lived up to all my hopes for it once I finally caught up with it several years later. So you might expect me to be annoyed by a movie that's basically "What if Shock Waves ate paint chips on the regular when it was a kid?" but no.

I just discovered by accident (reading the latest ERHBC catalogue) that there are at least SIX movies in the CONJURING series. And I've only seen the first one, and that was more than I should have bothered with.

In that case I think I've seen about four?
