My Uncle Calvin was quite an accomplished sculptor and seemed equally comfortable working in wood or stone. With recent deaths in the family, I have become heir to a few of his marvelous pieces. I will try to post up pics of the ones I now own.
Here is one I just call "Devil". All it has carved into the bottom is JAN 59. Sometimes Uncle Calvin would carve "CHACO" as his artist's signature, but not so on this particular piece.

That's really nifty. I like how, advertently or not, it seems to apply a West African sculptural sensibility to a Western subject.

Here is one with "ALVEE" on the bottom, along with his nom-de-stone "CHACO" and "OCT 1957". I was told a long time ago it's his rendition of the story of Romulus and Remus, though Ive always questioned that interpretation.

Does "ALVEE" have any significance I'm unaware of? I haven't bothered to Google it or anything.

I googled. It's a variation on the name Alvin. Which I can't figure out how it connects to the sculpture, unless those are some weird looking chipmunks.

Here's another of my Uncle Calvin's sculptures. This one is solid stone (marble I think) and has a monkey face on one side and a human one on the other.

By all means, utilize it for your fish blog. I'm sure Uncle Calvin wouldn't mind.

This is my favorite of my uncle Calvin's sculptures. Esteemed members of ZAQB, I present "Yellow":
