I don't know music like most of you do, but there's something different about the structure or rhythm of this classic Joni Mitchell song that's always intrigued me.

These krauts are part of a tradition of more melodic, more produced hardcore that isn't my go-to genre, but they do have some great songs. Like this one a lot.

This is from a compilation of early '80s new wave/punk/ska from New Zealand. Probably the best track. This could easily have been a long-lost early XTC song.

Recently stumbled across this Dutch band. I like jangly-guitared hardcore as much as crunchy-guitared hardcore, they mix in other styles and they're just whimsical enough for my tastes, so those are all pluses.

So those are some interesting sonic associations... Sort of sounds like Joe Strummer and Andrew Ranken hijacked Dave Edmunds and they all went on a bender...

With all due respect to Mizzzz Fish, who clearly enjoys their '90s output, this is what I think of when I think of the Butthole Surfers:

That's the same exorcism they used in that David Byrne/Brian Eno collaboration "My Life in the Bush of Ghosts".
