Never heard of them, but that is a great band name.

I've never really paid much attention to the Dead Milkmen, because I always felt that there was a kind of smugness to the way they presented themselves (bolstered by reports I've heard over the years that they can really be dicks in person). Nevertheless, I decided to listen to some of the albums in their back catalog that I hadn't heard, and I have to say, questions of personality notwithstanding, they have written some very good songs. This one has had me giggling for days and is probably my favorite track they've ever recorded.

Goddamnit, I just heard about Gordon Lightfoot. Back in college, my friends and I used to sing 'Sundown', slightly tongue in cheek, because there was something about the swagger in the vocal that amused us, but the more I listened to him, the more I realized that I really, really dug his stuff. As such, it's hard to choose a favorite track, but this is way up there.

I had a hunch you might like that. Were you already familiar with them? Just a random musical find from the newsgroups for me.

Nope! Totally new to me. Following them on Bandcamp now, though.

Bonus Small Entertainment and Stuff What I Learned features: The Plugz (one of the first bands to incorporate a Chicano element into punk rock) won a Best Song Award at the 1986 AFAA (Adult Film Association Awards) for the following track having been featured in New Wave Hookers, a flick with some degree of scandal attached to it. (As someone who inherited a VHS copy of New Wave Hookers 2 from the store I worked at, I can tell you, they used 'Electrify Me' in that one too.)
And I'm going to make it a two-fer, because this song from the same album is a little more representative of their sound as a whole.

Also, I can't believe it's taken me this long to post this. Yellowjackets credit sequence (Season 1; Season 2's has some differences) with great theme song by Craig Wedren and Anna Waronker.

I knew there was a follow-up band, but I never got around to listening to them. I'll have to delve deeper.
Meanwhile...

I'm not sure which of Tito's bands it was, but Roadhouse was on TV today and they appeared in the opening scene.

Hadn't listened to this in a while. This is from one of my all-time favorite EPs. The band's name means 0 0 0 in Finnish.

I've posted this French duo before. Feels more like incantations than mere music.
