Haven't posted any Pups in a while. This is a good example of the western (as in c&w) side of their influence.

This one popped into my head out of nowhere. Haven't listened to the album it's from in a while, but I guess I'll have to remedy that.

Also, I know this is the single most cliche thing I could have posted, but fuck it, it's still great.
Man, 2022 took both Julee and Angelo. Fuck.

I found myself regressing towards '80s pop somewhat this year, so I'll be throwing up some examples of that in the coming days. Here's a good track to start with.

Mostly the same line-up as Victims Family, and just as fucking tight.

I wonder if that's Winston Smith cover art.

He's not listed in the album credits as far as I can tell, but it's a spot-on guess, especially since that album was released in the US by Alternative Tentacles, Jello's label.

'Don't You Want Me' will probably always be their signature song, especially since it appeared in the earliest ads for the then-nascent MTV, but I always liked this one better. It reminds me of school dances (a mixed bag memory, to be sure, but still suffused with nostalgia).

Phil Oakey expressing compassion for silkworms. Followed by Phil Oakey v. 2 --who was banging both other singers in the band. Followed by Phil Oakey v. 3 --a.k.a. "Elder States-Baldspot" Ain't it funny how time slips away...

This is undoubtedly one of the most perfect pairings of artist and cover song that I've ever heard. Holy fuck, is she awesome.

Seems like a good next entry in the '80s pop series, what with the Human League connection and the fact that some seem to need a reminder of that which we do not need.

I'm about two-thirds into an amusing little movie called "Uforia" with Cindy Williams. I'm not really big on country music, but the soundtrack to this movie is pretty great.
