I crossed paths with one of my supervisors in the stairwell yesterday and she commented that I answered their questions really well at the job interview Monday. Out of curiosity, I asked how many of the 6 applicants they ended up interviewing. Mid-boss said they had "further interviews this week" so I vaguely assumed all 5 other applicants had great resumes and all got meetings.
"One," she said.
So my odds are basically a coin flip at this point. Not bad.
Speaking of coins, I got change for a twenty when I filled up Li'l Ishiro the other day, and there was a featherpenny in there again!!!

Ha! Oh, this is glorious. I know a lot of people who went on a DIY home-improvement jag during the Plague Year, but you're the only one who built a soundproof fuck-pit. If I wore hats, I'd be taking mine off to you right now. Thank you, my friend!

Oh, me and my boyfriends had an amazing romp in it last weekend. I highly recommend a sling to anyone who is considering it.

Oh, me and my boyfriends had an amazing romp in it last weekend. I highly recommend a sling to anyone who is considering it. Is there no danger of seasickness? I was astounded that not only was my suggestion the one chosen for my supervisor's send-off gift, but she actually seemed to like it. I was, unaccountably, the only one who suggested one of those long poles with a grippy on the end used by professional snake wranglers. Also incredible to me is how fast it arrived.

Is there no danger of seasickness? đŸ˜† No. It isn't as swingy as you might imagine.

Esteemed confidants and co-conspirators of the Quilting Bee, I present...The Book Box! I think it already had it's first visitor(s) earlier today while I was gone. Hard to tell. I don't get home til after dark most evenings.

So, got a call just before I'd have normally been up saying the store is closing for today and tomorrow so...free days off! I feel like I'm playing hooky or something. Of course, it's all fun and games until the power goes...

I don't think i told you guys about my faerie garden, did I? So, well over a year ago, I was listening to BBC radio or NPR or something, and they had a woman on describing how, if you just allow it, the 'wild' has a way of returning to places. So, as a sort of experiment, I stopped cutting the back yard since early Covid-19 (April/May'ish). As you might imagine, it's pretty thick back there now. The tallest fronds have these little white and yellow flowers and the whole backyard has become this haven for the bees and butterflies. Seeing numerous kinds of both, and it's beautiful just watching them all buzz from flower-to-flower, doing their pollinating thing. And when I traipse through the backyard, there are another billion (I'm not even exaggerating) tiny mothlike (or grasshopper?) pale ones flitting around. It's really quite breathtaking.

This is a great experiment and one you should continue. It's one of the simplest things you can do to restore natural balance. Maybe add a few of the plants I listed in that letter to you to increase Kobberdiversity. Geez, when you said "faerie garden" I pictured one of those Pinterest monstrosities with dollhouse-sized resin cottages populated with garden gnomes and adorned with plastic mushrooms:

And tiki gods! Wait. Why are there tiki gods in the faerie garden again?
I swear it's so calming. I can sit right amongst them (bees, butterflies, moths) and they are so intent on flitting from flower-to-flower, it's like I'm invisible. Did that three different times during the after-storm boredom this week. Even brought out the binoculars and tried to watch things going on in up-close detail across the yard. That would have worked better if I had a steadier hand. Still...way too close to be using binoculars. They're still busy out there every day, wearing those poor flowers out; but things really seem festive on sunnier days than we've been having post-Sally.

I'm sorry for going on about this, but another nice aspect of this is that the flower bed on the street-facing corner in the front yard has butterflies and bees visiting it all day too; which to my mind is a pleasant view driving/walking/riding by.

Those are great, KG! And Happy B'day, btw!
My little bit of happiness is the cooler, less-humid forecast for the coming week. Pretty much everyone down here is - "Bring that shit on!", you know? It's a good sign, too. While there's technically two more months to go in storm season, most years you get a cool snap like this equals no-mo-storms.
Oh, and a house down the street from me already went big with the Halloween decorations. Boo yeah! That's extreme even by my standards. Bully for them!

Helluva birthday. My experimental cake recipe was, if I say so myself, phenomenal. I got an awesome card. My Stapelia schinzii var. angolensis bloomed. My migraine went away at last.. AND I Learned that Sabertooth's grief and sorrow (and even my own) are about to get somewhat better. I got a text with photos announcing the arrival of my co-worker's new bebeh kittehs and the one with the stripe is NOW SET ASIDE FOR ME: pin.it/1jg4NRf
