Here's a scene from "Suburban Sasquatch" to give you some idea of the state of this movie:

Do you need a copy of The Geek? Nah, Sasquatch is never mentioned in "The Geek". Either the movie title has to have Sasquatch in it, or the cryptid needs to be called Sasquatch during the film. I know. Weird arbitrary rule in place.

Finally got around to seeing this all the way thru. I have held onto this goal for something like 50 years. So very disappointed lol

A twofer of alien-themed movies for movie night last night.
First was "Official Denial" (1993) which I'm guessing was one of the last movies to feature alien visitors in anything but a terrifying light. Fun cast of TV regulars, too.
Second was "The Fourth Kind" (2009) which I'm of two brains on. Intriguing premise about numerous people experiencing frightening night terrors/encounters in remote Nome, Alaska. In a play on the found footage phenomenon, they have supposed "real" footage often playing simultaneously with their film footage recreating events (starring Milla Jovovich). I don't know, it just felt like a cheap trick to me.

What did you think? I liked it a little better than most seem to. It's got kind of a leisurely pace that I think throws some off.

Raiders of the Lost Ark Harrison Ford punches nazis for fun and profit. One of the most rewatchable movies I can think of. It's been a while actually, but I bet it still holds up.
That "Crystal Skull" one hurt though.

It was still fun, a little more campy than I remember, and full of plot holes, but a good ride nonetheless.

I've seen this one before and it really didn't send me. I decided to watch it again and tonight I loved it!

I got this terrific looking movie fanzine in the mail yesterday. It's called Drive In Asylum, and one of the featured articles this issue (#24) is on "Scream Bloody Murder" (1972). It's specifically the lead actress and director interviewed about the film. I'm really curious what she has to say, because she worked her ass off in this thing.
So, I was familiar with the above film as a recommendation from our own dearly departed Billy Anderson under the "My Brother Has Bad Dreams" title, but just have never gotten around to it - until last night. I wish I had taken Billy up on this one sooner, as it's a heck of a ride.
Well, I bunged this all up. I knew there were two movies that came out in 1972 named "Scream Bloody Murder", but somehow I thought the one I saw the other night was the one ALSO known as "My Brother Has Bad Dreams" and shot down here in beautiful, scenic Florida. Fortunately, Billy Anderson sent me a VHS eons ago with the one titled "My Brother Has Bad Dreams". Apparently, it's never made it to digital (yet).
Anyway, might just watch that later tonight. It looks nuts.

Wasn't feeling the horror vibe last night, so went with "Hot Rod" (2007). Shit was hilarious! A new all-time favorite comedy on my list.

Well, I saw it, and "My Brother Has Bad Dreams" (1972) is one of the Billy'est movies I've ever seen. I can definitely see why he recommended it. It's pretty fucking great start to finish. Just wish the print was better.
Which brings up a question for the more tech-savvy: The only problem with this disc was the original VHS print (probably several generations down). The disc itself was burned off on one of my trusty old RCA tape-to-disc rigs from the early days of DVD. I've heard that digital tech like discs are liable to fade or something within like 5-10 years, but I guarantee you this disc is two decades old and it played fine. So, are people wrong about discs going wonky? Or am I misunderstanding something? Are there a lot of variables like with analog, where if you keep your shit in a relatively dry, cool environment it will last longer? Forgive me. I guess that's several questions.

So, are people wrong about discs going wonky? There is some uncertainty as to how long before the polycarbonate and aluminum in CDs starts to degrade. So maybe your entire collection will go tits up someday. Or maybe it won't. Who knows?
