Finally got around to [see attached] last night and really enjoyed. Maybe because I didn't have high expectations? It is one of those movies that's almost better than it has any right to be.

Everything Everywhere All At Once well that was really something! The Oscars apparently thought so. I'm sure it's probably very interesting, but I don't usually watch contemporary films anyway, and I'm not going to go out of my way to see this one for a purely petty reason: about five years ago, I wrote a song called 'Everything All at Once' that I haven't had a chance to record yet. Not that it really matters, but it bugs me anyway.

I watched "Our Man in Havana" (1959) two nights ago. Excellent comedy/drama with a cast of Kobb favorites. You should read the Graham Greene novel, Kobb. It's one of his most purely comedic works.

Thanks for the recommendation. I intend on getting back to more reading in my evenings. This is the "viewing" thread*, but more than a few of these recently retired evenings I just prefer to curl up with a good read.
*And watching movies is one of my favorite things in the world to do.

I don't know. Any takeaways from it? It definitely seemed like one of those films where different viewers might come away with different impressions.

Not that it really matters, but it bugs me anyway. It's been months since I saw it, but "Everything Everywhere All at Once" is interesting to say the least. I think it's one of the best movie portrayals of the quantum physics theory of multiple universes/realities. And perhaps owing to that, it's also almost genre-defying when attempting to classify it*. I don't know whether I'd care to watch it again, but it certainly deserves a look if you do happen to have it available one night with no idea what to watch. Really cool seeing Michelle Yeoh win at the Oscars, too. Saw her in some badass roles in HK martial arts flicks back in the day.
*The top google hit considers it Adventure/Sci-fi and I suppose that narrows it down as well as anything.

That said, too many shots of carpeting. It would maybe have made an okay short film.

I saw (and loved) these two over the previous two evenings. Sure, I'd seen them both years ago, but it was still fun watching them again.
It's either on to "Son of Flubber" tonight, or I move on to next Hypno's Sasquatch-themed views.

I got this terrific looking movie fanzine in the mail yesterday. It's called Drive In Asylum, and one of the featured articles this issue (#24) is on "Scream Bloody Murder" (1972). It's specifically the lead actress and director interviewed about the film. I'm really curious what she has to say, because she worked her ass off in this thing.
So, I was familiar with the above film as a recommendation from our own dearly departed Billy Anderson under the "My Brother Has Bad Dreams" title, but just have never gotten around to it - until last night. I wish I had taken Billy up on this one sooner, as it's a heck of a ride.

Once Bitten A vampire must suck a virgin's taint or die. One of my favorite horror/comedies. Cleavon Little stole the show as Sebastian.

Once Bitten A vampire must suck a virgin's taint or die. But does she have to wash up with Dr. Bronner's™ first?

I am two movies in to this Sasquatchathon and this is brutal. Tonight's movie was cheaper than my Halloween yard decorations. Please, for your own sanity, stay away from "Suburban Sasquatch" (2004).

How broad are you in your interpretation of Sasquatch? I'm just thinking that a dose of HORROR EXPRESS might do you some good.. he's not very tall but he is at least an ape-man from a frozen cave!

They pretty much have to refer to the cryptid as "Sasquatch" at some point in the proceedings. I started off just planning a "Bigfoot"-themed issue (it's from a friend's suggestion), but when I saw there might conceivably be enough movies for a Hypno (at least seven) I went with strictly Sasquatch. I could have watched one called "Big & Hairy" for a total of eight Sasquatch movies, but I dropped it just before starting because I want to devote a two page spread for friend's flyer and advert reprints for their projects. Also, I almost never see movies I've previously watched for Hypnos.

Also, I almost never see movies I've previously watched for Hypnos. Oh, well, I wasn't even thinking of putting a review in Hypno; I was thinking it might help you detoxify from the other movies you're watching. Scrod knows you have more free time than you used to! Apropos of this thread: I watched that movie under a different title the past couple of nights. It was on a compilation disc with other immortal classics like The Night Evelyn Came Out Of The Grave. In this collection it's called The Enigma and what I really loved is that there's more footage in this version. A whiff more character development, the story makes a little more sense, and there's one really great moment I've never seen before: when the impostor turns off the lights in the engineer's train car, for a half an eyeblink you see him turn into the frozen ape-man. It seems to be showing us the moment when the engineer realizes what he's up against rather than showing us a physical transformation by the creature from one form to another.
