No Country for Old Men One of the Coen Brothers best. I have to admit, I am not the fan that many are of the Coens, but that's the only movie I've ever watched and then turned right around and watched immediately again. And its two hours long!

Is he the hostage or the stranger? The stranger. Do we find out that he's actually trying to save the hostage from someone else? It's okay if you spoil it. I don't make a point of avoiding Nickolas Cage movies, but I don't go out of my way to watch his stuff, either.

No, it was some convoluted nonsense about them being former mobsters trying to settle a score. (It honestly wasn't very clear.)

I just watched "Uninvited" (1988). Rarely have I giggled so heartily through a movie doing its utmost to play things so seriously. I have a new all time favorite killer kitty movie, and its name is "Uninvited". You'd almost think some scenes were shot as parodies of this exact kind of movie, it's so bad. Poor George Kennedy sure signed on to some stinkers during his later career. If I could nominate one movie that I think everyone here would enjoy (on some level) it would be this.

Jean Rollin's "Night of the Hunted" (1980) last night. Weird, but ample nudity helped things along.

Weird but ample nudity is my motto. That or killer mutant cats slaughtering yacht crews. My entertainment bar is decidedly low at this point. The best movies usually make you feel something, or you perhaps even learn something about yourself from the film. Most of the time I don't want that, though. Just take my mind off the existential dread for 90 minutes and we're good.

Honestly not nearly as anarchic as I would have hoped. Too much order in the chaos. By half.

The Fish that Saved Pittsburgh- I know I saw this when I was a kid, but I couldn't remember much about it. Down-on-its-luck basketball team makes a comeback after a young fan (James Bond III) recruits an astrologer (Stockard Channing) to assemble a team of all Pisces. That's basically the whole movie. There are smidgens of plot here and there, but the main draw is the game sequences, which are fun enough. Those and the colorful cast, including Jonathan Winters, Dr. J., Meadowlark Lemon, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Nicholas Pryor, Jack Kehoe and Flip Wilson (in a very brief appearance), are the main reasons to watch what is, a few casually dropped profanities notwithstanding, a kid's movie (as well as a candidate for the list of best-ever movie titles).

I've never seen a single Purge film. There is at least one more to.go before I've seen them all. They're OK if you like stories with moral messages throughout, the size of billboards.
