With a young, hairy Jason Alexander if memory serves. Correct! Also Helen Hunt Holly Hunter*, apparently, but I missed her somehow, so I can't comment on how hairy she may have been. * no wonder I missed her. I have the same problem with those two actresses.

Deadly Friend A muddled thriller from middle-era Wes Craven. That one scores an extra star from me just for the basketball scene.

"Likely Stories 2" (1983) last night. Sketch comedy silliness with a lot of favorite names (Paul Reubens, Danny DeVito, Gerrit Graham, Patrick Macnee, Tim Thomerson, et al).

Deadly Friend- Revisited this Wes Craven piece for the first time in a long time. Think I first saw it in the theater. And despite having watched it a small but fair number of times in yesteryear, I didn't remember it nearly as well as some of the other flicks from that era. Not surprisingly, the most memorable bit remains the old basketball to the head. The early scenes in which the robot can be heard constantly burbling away in the background count as a small entertainment. I was never so glad as when that robot finally shut up 😆

Eastern Promises Every once in a while I watch a good movie. I haven't seen that one, but I agree that every so often I too need to catch a bit of genuine cinema as a sort of palate cleanser for the brain.

The Serpent and the Rainbow More Craven nonsense, this time about voodoo. Another one I saw in the theater! Seem to remember liking it well enough, but it's been years. I've always liked Bill Pullman.

Yeah, that one's one of my favorite Cravens, tbh. I really wanted to like it more than I did. I liked how things spiraled into nightmare terrain towards the end.

Yeah. I'm not sure if I remember him from anything else, but he emanated malevolence.

Yeah. I'm not sure if I remember him from anything else, but he emanated malevolence. Zakes Mokae, one of South Africa's most esteemed theater actors. He made appearances in western TV and films from time to time.

"Barbarian Queen" (1985) - As 80's as it gets, with big hair and nice tits.
"Baby Love" (1979) - An Italian sex "comedy" that makes "Barbarian Queen" look PG-rated by comparison.
