One was "Dirty Pictures" (2010) about a chemist considered the father of MDMA (the drug widely known as 'Ecstasy' or simply 'X'). The other is called "Call Me Lucky" (2015) and is about a firebrand comedian who later appeared before Congress to force AOL to police it's chat-rooms.
My first wife used to hang out with Sasha, and also used to distribute MDMA at parties back before it was made illegal. That's insane! Was this before or after you were seeing Liz Phair?*
*I kid of course. You've clearly traveled in much more rarefied circles than I.

The Fast and the Furious 9 That's not how magnets work. I gotta have some context.

*chuckle* You're never gonna let me live that one down, are ya? Short version of the story: the first Mrs. C. is ten years older than I am. She's from a pretty wealthy family, and therefore had a variety of those odd connections that rich people somehow manage to have. While she was attending UCSC during the late 1970's one of these connections introduced her to Sasha Shulgin. The rest, as they say, is history..

The Fast and the Furious 9 That's not how magnets work. I gotta have some context. Oh lord. The whole climax revolves around a chase scene where the protagonists use electromagnets in their cars to pull objects (cell phones, guns, other cars, phone lines, whatever the plot requires but only what is required at the moment) toward them (or repels them) as they speed down the highway. It's phenomenally silly.

Are you having to pretend that they don't suck while you're watching these F&F movies with them?*
*I mean, I can't talk. I watch some absolute dogshit films.

"The Empty Man" (2020) late last night. Intriguing horror that heads off in some strange directions. Had some minor questions with plot points, but all-in-all a decent scary movie. Long though at 2hrs 17mins.

Though I do have a boy, we have decided we're not dating. Two boys, actually.

Or is that just what's typically on in that household any given night?

I kind of want to see the originals that many of today's heist/car-chase movies stem from before I see any of the current ones. I guess so I can compare? So, seeing the first versions of "The Fast and the Furious", "Gone in Sixty Seconds", "Ocean's Eleven", "Drive", et al would be interesting to me; and THEN maybe watching the recent films? I dunno. From the plot synopsis for both old and newer "The Fast and the Furious" sound quite a bit different, so maybe most of these are just using the catchy titles and throwing out the old plotlines?

My understanding is that the producers of The Fast and the Furious just licensed the title for their new script.
The working title was Race Wars.

I honestly think he was trying to test our will.😆

The working title was Race Wars. Is that a joke? Because it's hilarious either way.

It is not! Throughout the series the heroes attend a racing event called Race Wars. It's unbearably stupid.

This 2021 documentary was excellent, though long at 3+ hours. I parsed it out over three nights.

How many options for that were there in the '90's?
