Oddly enough, last night I was watching a panel discussion among British movie critics about whether Cro's "Crash" ought to be banned or not. I gathered it was from around the time the film was playing at big movie festivals, but hadn't hit the mainstream theaters yet. I'm not even sure if it ever did. I can pretty much guarantee it never played theaters down here.

It definitely played in theaters here.
They Came from Within was the first Cronenberg I saw, and it made me feel singularly uncomfortable.

I rushed to buy this as soon as I saw it had Reggie Bannister. I'm only about half an hour in but liking it. They have not yet explained why Reggie, who plays the New Brunswick Ripper, has a Deep South accent.

Mine was "Scanners". I was still in high school when I saw it on the big screen and it knocked my socks off. You should have heard everyone scream when dude's head splodiated! I gathered El Santo isn't a fan (from his 1000 Misspent Hours review), but I will always have a soft spot for "Scanners".

"The Terror of Hallow's Eve" (2017) was a horror revenge fantasy and I can't really recommend it, but it did scratch this weird Summerween itch I've had going all week.

Saw Cronenburg's new "Crimes of the Future" and wow! He's in fine form after all these years.

I just discovered that the brother of a friend spent $600 building a squirrel-sized theater with a tablet for a screen. They go in to watch his movie, REVENGE OF THE SQUIRRELS:

My favorite part of his other video is the squirrel inside the mini-movie theater seemingly watching the "Revenge of the Squirrels" on the tablet/screen.

Finally got around to the original "The Woman in Black" from 1989. There were elements to the 2012 remake with Daniel Radcliffe that I appreciated, but all-in-all I liked the slow burn aspects of the 1989 one over the later try. They went too hard in 2012. They always overdo it with recent ghost horrors. Little or no subtlety.

It played in theaters where I live!

How was it? The critics were pretty hard on it when it premiered, as I recall... I tried watching it once and couldn't get through it. Oof. I hear it's marvelous to look at, but the story and love interest falls flat. No chemistry between the actors. Like I say though, that was just the consensus from a few reviews I read about it many months ago.

How was it? The critics were pretty hard on it when it premiered, as I recall... ...and I'm not sure why. It's set in the same universe as THE FIFTH ELEMENT and for that reason alone I love it. It's just a wild action fantasy. It's terrribly CGI-heavy, which is often the kiss of death for a movie, but this one is still lots of fun.
