You should gently nudge things in the direction of Charles Bronson's "Death Wish 1,2,3,4" now! I think those are too rapey, tbh. Even Rambo 4 had more gang rape than any of us were prepared for.

Seagal may not be rapey, but, as I recall, one of his movies has two scenes near the beginning in which he prays with his young son in his room at bedtime...and then proceeds to go into his own bedroom and completely maul his wife's breasts. Was that an attempt to make people hard for Jesus?

I'm not sure if I've ever actually seen a Stephen Seagal movie. I might've seen "Under Siege" a looong time ago.

I have seen several of MST3K's new 3rd season. Good to have more of that sort of content, regardless of one's feelings about past and future incarnations of the show. They had me cracking up for a good part of "Dr. Mordrid" last night and "Munchie" two nights prior. Hit and miss with the "Beyond Atlantis". Solid chuckles for "Robot Wars".
For me, MST3K is/was best when they get geeky enough that I'm going to miss more than a few references. Some of the new episodes went for low-hanging fruit too often. Lazy jokes or puns perhaps just to fill quiet gaps? I dunno. The concept still works for me and they picked some really cheesy movies for the season.

Finally got around to watching Batman Returns last night. I wasn't expecting to like it (I hated the 1989 Batman so much that the bits of Batman Forever and Batman and Robin that I've caught here and there over the years didn't strike me as any sort of diminution), but I was totally unprepared for it to be worse-- AND DUMBER!-- than fucking Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.

Is that the one with Danny Devito? It is. Playing the It's Alive baby, if he was rescued and raised to adulthood by the penguins which everyone knows live in the sewers of all major American cities, and then got talked into running for mayor by Donald Trump.

"Cape Fear" (1962) late last night. Hella tense and both Mitchum and Peck were excellent. Weird seeing Telly Savalas with hair.

Also recently:
Hell House LLC (2016) - I didn't have much faith in this, but it proved better than expected (and fit in well with my early Halloween fever).
V/H/S (2012) - Probably the last horror fan in the country to get around to this. Much like above, wasn't too enthused by the start, but made for a decent surprise. Not enough to seek out the three or four sequels, but still...
An Angel for Satan (1966) - Barbara Steele is one of those actors I'll watch regardless what they're in. This wasn't a bad little possession flick. Probably too creaky for modern horror audiences' attention spans, but I dug it.
Savageland (2015) - I like what they did with this. It's filmed as a documentary on the events that led to a small town on the Mexican/USA border being wiped out, as told through the shaky photographs of the wrongfully accused lone survivor.
MST3K: The Return S03 E06 Demon Squad (2022) - The last of the new series I've been able to grab. Godawful movie that even I would likely have not made it through, were it not for the MST3K treatment. Filmed down here in lovely (cough-cough) Mobile, Alabama.

Leaving D.C. (2012) last night. The entire movie is a guy from D.C. who's moved out to the W. Virginia boonies sending videos to friends. Strange noises and events start occurring and he attempts to document them. I had almost given up hope with modern haunting movies because they always overdo it, but this was a creepy effort that relies on minimal occurrences which somehow makes it that much more believable. Very recommended.

This "Leaving D.C. really impressed me because I had done an issue of my movie fanzine that was all 2010's movies with "Haunt" or "Haunting" or Haunted" in their titles and they all sucked. Too much too soon (for my tastes, anyway). Shit happens that would send any sane person packing within hours of arrival in most of those flicks. Not with this one, though. In fact, I'm not sure if I've seen a horror movie that keeps things as mysterious and vague as this since the original "The Haunting" (1963). Also, unlike most modern horror that has to rationalize why people's cell phones (or other tech) don't work to keep the plots plausible, this guy actually uses high tech tools to help try to solve whatever is happening outside his rustic retreat every night. I was hesitant going into "Leaving D.C." because I hit my shakey-cam limit a good decade ago, but fortunately that wasn't a worry, either. On the other hand, I don't want to prop this up too too highly and leave you underwhelmed if you see it. It was simply a pleasant surprise.

With the recent news stories swirling around Gary Busey, I decided to finally catch him in Stephen King's "Silver Bullet" (1985) last night. Werewolves were my favorite monster when I was a kid, but there don't seem to be that many decent werewolf movies. This one was alright, though.
