Oh my gosh! Have you checked prices on that thing, lately? Absolutely not. I never want to attempt to read that craptacular book again. But what were they asking? Was it more or less than the only copy I ever found of Margaret Cheney's COED KILLER? ($400, signed by the serial killer himself.)

Is that the one by the gal who was Ted Bundy's girlfriend for a few months? Anyway, the Evil book could be had for under $50 on Amazon. The only reason it even came up was I read an obit from last year about the founder of The Process Church.

Maury Terry's book is not worth your paying 50 cents!

Has anyone on the board seen Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker, aka Night Warning?
From the IMDB summaries below, it looks like the kind of super sick film that I, and many other ZAQBers would really like.
Summaries
An orphaned teenager finds himself being dominated by his aunt who's hell-bent on keeping him with her...at all costs. —Suspicious
Seventeen year old high school senior Billy Lynch was raised by his maternal aunt, Cheryl Roberts, with who he has lived since the age of three, when his parents died in a tragic accident. As never married Aunt Cheryl has not dated over that time, it has been only her and Billy in the big, old house next to the woods. Billy hopes to get a basketball scholarship to the University of Denver, where his girlfriend of one year, Julie Linden, will be attending. Aunt Cheryl, in her possessiveness of Billy, doesn't let Julie into the house and doesn't want Billy to go away to college. What those around her don't know is that Cheryl is deranged and will do whatever it takes to keep Billy all to herself. What Billy also does not know is that there is an unknown third in his and Aunt Cheryl's relationship, that third who is either the cause of or has exacerbated her derangement. Aunt Cheryl's actions lead to Billy being implicated in a murder, Billy's plea of innocence which is not helped by the narrow-mindedness of the lead police detective, hyper-masculine Lieutenant Joe Carlson. Billy, those close to him and anyone who gets too close to discovering the truth about Aunt Cheryl could be in danger at her hands in the process. —Huggo
Since the death of his parents fourteen years ago, Billy Lynch has been raised by his over-protective aunt Cheryl. But once he turns seventeen, he is soon set on planning his life...without her. He's planing on going on to college and is dating local girl Julie. None of which sits well for his aunt, who's lost everyone else in her life and now with her nephew ready to leave, ensures she starts on a campaign to keep him with her...forever. But as her plans misfire she becomes swept up in a cycle of psychosis and frenzied violence all being blamed on Billy by everyone else...including a homophobic detective, whose anti-gay prejudice is steadily reaching its zenith...leading to an unforeseeable outcome. —suspicous

Didn't David (Son of Sam) Berkowitz make some veiled claims to there being this overarching conspiracy of Satanic societies that included the Manson Family, The Process Church, and others? Or did Terry first float that idea and Berkowitz merely ran with it?

I don't remember which one of them came up with that, but likely Berkowitz. That guy would say anything to keep his name in the paper.

Yeah, it might have been Lucas or Toole (or both), for all I remember.
Anyway, I got my thick-assed Video Hound Movie Guide for 2019 recently, so book-wise I'll be immersed in that for quite a while.

Quite ironic, Marxo. And, wise move on your part. I forgot where I saw it, but can probably find a brief clip from the film that our Webmaster and Master Buttologist, Deeky, will like, although it might be better to post on the film review thread (so senile I can't remember the title of that thread right now).
From all of the descriptions of the film I've read it is super sick, and while some IMDB reviews warn of spoilers, none of them I have read so far have given away the ending.
After you've finished watching the film, I'm sure you can write a great review for all of us ZAQBers.

It's not a book,it's a movie, but yes, I've seen it, from when I went through my time watching the Video Nasty Films. It's not very graphic per se, but boy is it slimy as all get out. It's one of the better ones on that list too. Reb Brown plays what might be the most asshole cop I've ever seen in movies.

Choco, I have been spending so much time on the old board, it seems to me, like the acquizitions thread on there included DVDs and videos. Or did it? Maybe a false memory on my part? I'll have to check the records to be exact. So, for now, I don't think there would be any harm in posting the trailer and some stills, posters, video covers and newspaper ads to the film which Marxo may or may not have finished watching, and may or may not review there. I don't think it showing these items would spoil the film for other board members who will later watch the film and review it there. So, everyone be watching for the trailer and the stil stuff on the Beware thread.

Did a check of the thread title printouts of the old board, and, for the present, looking thru the entertainment forum, didn't see any actual acquisitions thread, but did find a thread titled, Books/Music/Films We Want To Read/Hear/See.
That is somewhat similar. I did not check the General Chatter and other forums, but possibly I might in the future find a thread or threads on things that the ZAQBers had actually gotten.
Things do get mixed up in memory, and I now realize that Butcher, Baker, and Nightmare Maker aka Night Warning, does not belong on this thread.
So go to the thread about films people recently saw, and check out all the goodies I posted there.

I don't think I've ever gotten around to it, but I have to say that "Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker" is a GREAT horror movie title.

Utterly gripped by: Some of the stories in here are new to me, but even the chapters on the old familiar ones, like Heath and Kurten, include all kinds of new information I never saw before.

Damn. These are all ones you've been reading? Man, you stay fully immersed in the true crime. Does the interest wax and wane? Or is it always a crowd-pleaser there at Rancho del Goldfish?
I watched a couple of documentaries on the "Toybox Killer" recently. Any good books out there on that fiend?

My membership in the "Obsessed With True Crime" group at Goodreads is constantly suggesting new books to me that I simply must read. VERY hard to break away from those. It is the most burning interest I have, even though I am trying to diversify, if only to keep the movie and book reviews on non-crime subjects coming at Cliffie's Notes and My Golden Apples. I have also resolved to return to reading more fiction and I've had some success in that department.
To my knowledge there are 3 books out there about the Toybox Killer: Consequences by J.E. Sparks which I have never read, Cries In the Desert by John Glatt which is really good, and Slow Death by Jim Fielder which is so lousy it is almost impossible to get through, although it does have some details that were not included in Cries In The Desert.
