I've a friend who has a copy of this on his coffee table. Deeky, I looked thru the contents of the 29 issues that were published, and also did more searches on the Butt magazine search engine, and got no results. Whatever menton of HIM there might have been, assuming this is the same Butt magazne that HIM was reportedly mentioned in, might not have been all that significant. If only the person who made that claim had given us an issue number of which Butt magazine HIM was mentioned in . . . I don't suppose that friend of yours who has a copy of Butt, would have the whole print run, and would have any interest in looking for whatever coverage Butt did have on Ed D Louie's HIM? If only I had the right search engine, and knew how to phrase my search, maybe I coudl find a referrnce to HIM in Butt magazine.

I doubt he has the entire print run.

PS to last one: Could there have been more than one magazine named Butt, and possibly the one started in 2001, and at the URL in my last posts, was not the one that had the coverage of, or mention of, HIM? I think this is a definite likelyhood. And I seem to remember that yeah, I looked up old issues of Bitch and found them expensive. That is also a case of a separate magazine by the same name appearing in the internet age.

Thanks for the post, Choco. I'm thinking of putting my correspondance with that college libraru thata had a copy of Bitch magazine on file, along with the data on which library at which college it was, for anyone else who might want to give it a try like I did, although I got nowhere with it.

I am going to have to find that thread on CD, where I posted Al Goldstein's review of HIM for the firstime, and see all of the replies, and maybe the mentions of Butt magazine, and Bitch magazine will be included.
I know Choco did mention sending the still skeptical powers that be at Snopes a copy of the Screw review to convince them that HIM was a real film.
I was surprised by how much stuff from Butt magazne is posted on their web site, and I think that could very well be the Butt magazine that had whatever mention of HIM that one internet poster did find of interest.
Rather than an entire feature article on HIM, it could have been a relatively short mention in one of the departments listed in the contents.
I did read some of the interview with John Waters, and I am still wondering if he saw HIM, and / or knew about the film, and might have mentioned it in any of his writings and / or interviews over the years.
I would expect anyone who has gone to the lengths that Mr. Waters has gone to including blasphemy in his films, would at least know about HIM and Loadstar / California Supermen.
I'd think the same about Kenneth Anger since he featured Jesus in Scorpio Rising.

I've never seen or heard him mention it. Seems like it would have gotten some attention if he had.

Deeky, thanks for doing your searches. If i weren't a Lazy Man Who Wouldn't Take What Was His like Jackie Brown (John Cougar song lyric) and Beetle Bailey,I would have searched thru the Kinsey Institute listings many years ago, and found about the part of HIM that likely exists there.
And, while Ted Mcllveena was younger, and active, I would have contacted him and asked if he had a copy of Ed D Louie's HIM in his massive porno collection (150,000 films is a lot of films, but not as many as the one million items in other media claimed for Rev. Ted's collection).
I'm just the kind of person who would prefer that other people do my dirty work for me, although in some cases, now and then, I have realized that if I Don't Do It, Nobody Else Will, and I have Done It, and gotten results.
In this case, it is extremely hard work, especially in relation to Butt magazine. I could read everything they do have online and possibly find whatever there was about HIM in that magazine, and, it might be only a passing reference to the film, which would be of no real value or use to Film Detectives searching for this elusive film.
I've only got 24 hours in each day of my life, and I have a lot of other things to do.
Like writing a post office letter to Dave Szurek, for example. His cataract surgery has been postponed three times over many months, but was finally scheduled a month ago, and he said he didn't expect to be able to write any post office letters for a month.
I've been thinkinig of sending him a post card, self addressed and stamped by me, in a larger post office envelope, with two statements for him to check: Yes, I had the surgery, or No, the surgery was postponed again. I'm sure he could check one of thosee statements and get it into the mail to me.
I know this is off topic of the seardch for Ed D Louie's HIM, but there is so much more to life than trying to find out about a film that some people at one time claimed never even existed in the first place.
Parker, sent me a VHS of Bless the Beast and the Children, a Stanley Kramer film that I would expect would be as sad, gloomy and depressing as Mr. Kramer's On the Beach, and I have no idea when I might start watching BTB & TC.
I do know I need to get offline and do some things with my time to advance my Great Work in this carnal existence in the physical vehicle, instead of wasting my time online.
Thanks again for doing the checks you did from the links I sent to you.

Well, Deeky, I went to the post office and got two post cards, surprised to find that the post office still sells stamped post cards. I was thinking they might no longer do it, or at least do it at the contract post office I go to inside a hardware store, but they do sell post cards, although that post office does not sell US Post Office Money orders, something only the main post office does.

Am now getting the envelopes ready to address to Dave, and other friends and family, and then write some letters to stuff in the envelopes.
Was hoping to get a post office letter from Dave today, but only business stuff. Will wait till after the mail is put up tomorrow before printing out my letter to him, and including the post cards to tell me yes or no on the success of his cataract surgery.
This thread does need to stay on the topic of the search for Ed D Louie's HIM.
My saves to CD from the Mez board are arranged different ways: by posters, starting as any good follower of Ayn Rand's Virtue of Selfishness would do, with my own posts, then the posts of others, then PMs. I'm reasonably sure that I have that entire post that started with the Al Goldstein review of HIM, and possibly I'll find the reference to Butt and Bitch magazines in the replies also. And, I will further check the posts on the old Mez board Film Detectives thread for such references.

It cracks me up that Billy is listed as a reference in the Wikipedia article about the movie.

Deeky, I do think it was giving Billy his Due, since at that time the Snopes Urban legends webpage was still claiming the film wasn't real, because, among other things, there were no reviews of the film.
So, I would think that posting Al Goldstein's review of Ed D Louie's Him would have put an end to claims that it was not a real film, although even after that one person with an outfit called Truth Miners authoritatively stated that Him "never existed," and went on to present the argument that the ads for the film were bogus, because of the file type used, although they claimed the presenters of this never existed film were very clever in their hoax by doing their bogus ads for a real movie house that did exist at one time.
I was amused by the statemetnt that Al Goldstein's review was posted by a man calling himself Billy A Anderson (probably not his real name), so I suppose you and I do share a mutual amusement in this matter.
