It's wild how I can barely move my Venetian blinds to peek out at the birds and squirrels enjoying the back yard and they all instantly scatter. I imagine it's an instant response when any of their wildlife kin flee the scene. Like, nobody knows why Ted flew off, but just in case... But with all of the other movements going on at any given time in their environment, I'm amazed they notice. Planes and other birds flying overhead, making noises and casting shadows; plants moving in the breezes; insects flying and hopping around; cars going by outside the fence. Clouds moving farther overhead. It seems like it would be an overwhelming host of sights, sounds, smells and textures to contend with while foraging for seed to even pay any attention to my blinds being lifted an inch with my finger.
Stay tuned for the further adventures of Kobb: Nature Voyeur.

Okay, but what does that mean on a practical level? Not sure what you're asking there. What do you mean when you speak of "building a container?" I have to assume you're not talking about putting an inbox on your desk to hold memos to yourself about all the things that are worrying you, right? Or is it in fact that literal?

It's a mental construct, a container big and strong enough to hold all the issues that keep interfering with your life. You keep them there, locked up, until you are ready to take them out (not usually all at once) and clear them up using EMDR processing.

I could see myself giving it a try. I've gotten much better at compartmentalizing in the past decade.

Eh, I'll just do ketamine therapy. No idea how to find any, though.

Well, the trickery involved is called tapping in. Once you have the image in your mind of the recess-yard bully sealed into the container, and you feel that sense of relief knowing he can't get out until you let him, you do 10 slow taps on alternate knees or elbows or walk 10 steps to make it stick. You can also tap in any good thing you did, or anything that goes well at any time, to build yourself up a little and reinforce the positives. It's remarkably effective IF you remember to do it.

I was at someone's house over the weekend and she said she was doing her bills when I arrived. I saw her electric bill. It was almost THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS. I've been griping when mine goes up over fifty!
I guess my austerity program is working better than I thought.

Mine's about $200 between the electric and gas. I anticipate smaller electric as we crawl towards autumn.

I don't care how many times I'm told that gel pens are superior. They suck and I don't like using them. I'm sorry, but somebody had to take a stand and say what needs to be said on the matter.

I'm sorry, but somebody had to take a stand and say what needs to be said on the matter. They require a surprising amount of re-learning how to write, that's for sure. Gel pens behave more like fountain pens than traditional ballpoints with regard to how the nib interacts with the page. With a ballpoint, you have to bear down and mash the ink into the paper, but if you do that with a gel pen, you're just going to break the fucking thing-- and maybe rip the paper while you're at it, if you're using a crazy-narrow tip like a 0.38mm.

My big gripe is that they seem to be pushing these out of circulation and I will be heartbroken if they go.

By my age, you just know that a nighttime bicycle ride on rain slick streets is a potentially disastrous idea, though you might want to really get out and get the heart pumping after a day inside.

Earlier today, another deranged loser with incomprehensible but fundamentally right-wing extremist politics went gunning for Donald Trump, this time at the sanctum sanctorum of Mar-a-Lago. It's a very weird thing to have happen twice in a single election campaign. But then a minute ago it hit me:
On January 6th, 2021, Trump tried to stuff Mike Pence into the Wicker Man, but it didn't take. Now the crops of incipient fascism are failing again, and it's the king's turn to burn.

Thinking, for no apparent reason, about the cliche of Pissed-Off 50's Dad threatening to turn the car around and abort the vacation if the kids in the back seat don't stop acting like a bunch of goddamned chimpanzees, and gobsmacked by the sudden recognition that 1950's parenting was a microcosm of Richard Nixon's Madman Theory of international politics.

Quite a few ppl still held those views...

I was brain-dead after a long day, trying to post a comment to the Halloween place I like to visit. You know how sometimes the right words don't come to mind as they should? If not, get excited for old age, kids! Anyway, I googled "Person who watches over children" when the word "chaperone" wouldn't bubble up from the grey matter depths. Algorithmically* speaking, I think I'm on a government list now.
*Judging from the linking pages that appeared from the search engine.
