Yeah, I'm a 58yo WM "associate". That ship sailed decades ago.
Two thoughts:
1) The attachment of "dignity" to someone's occupation and socioeconomic status is one of the worst crimes capitalism has committed. 2) What's the use of having "dignity" anyway, if you can't have some fun with it?

My very own copy of GOKE: BODY SNATCHER FROM HELL! Thanks, Kobbers! ![](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0063206/mediaviewer/rm237395200/?ref_=tt_ov_i) Enjoy! It's a freaky flick. I don't quite like it like I like "Matango", but it's on up there among my Japanese horror film favorites.

What's really scary is I've watched jobbing at WM go from the sort of place one would make excuses for ("I'm just doing this until something better comes along in my chosen field") to being considered one of the better places to hold a job at in our poverty stricken area; all in the span of 20 years.

Ugh. I had a couple of economically precarious decades 1 before I lucked into my current job (and though I had the skills for most of the preceding time 2, it really WAS luck 3 I was hired where I was and when I was). I have since attached myself like a barnacle to a rock4, which might need to change in the next few years5 --a prospect I do not relish.
1. How precarious, you may ask? Scary so. At one point, single-digit dollars from being homeless so. 2. Over-educated and underemployed for the duration 3. One department at the Uni inadvertently duplicated a job position another department had already filled. Then the first person quit.
4. Long enough that I'm eligible to take full retirement before I turn 60(!) though I'm going to wait until Mrs. Caution retires. 5. Family concerns, the academic job market and political issues (AZ is a Republican madhouse) all may compel us to relocate.

I'm fortunate that I've never been homeless, though things have been dicey at times. It was a lot easier to handle those hotdogs and mac-n-cheese days when I was in my 20's (and sometimes 30's). Much like I think I would be miserable in prison, I don't think I'd take well to living out of my car or flat out on the street.
Just having the option to retire as early as sometime in 2023 has given me a whole new lease on life. As recently as 8 months ago, I pretty much thought I'd literally die on the sales floor someday. I've always been super good at doing nothing, and look forward to (hopefully) many blissful years of absolutely fucking off to come.

This is at work, and not my mailbox personally, but just the same it's very strange to open up a regular-ass Priority Mail package, and find inside it a book that was printed shortly after Thomas Jefferson was inaugurated into his second presidential term.

My return address was on the envelope! So, yes, I need to invest in some music and swag myself. I just need to stop running up needless expenses --by doing things like crashing my car-- first.
My act will come together soon. At least that's what many of my partners have said.

I've been a lot more active in the mail with the free time afforded me, and it's just marvelous how the rule still applies: Send some. Get some. There's something in the P.O. Box just about every visit again.

Just got the new issue of Skum Kulture (#4) in the mail today and he printed my write-up on Rick Master's ZFX Productions bondage videos of the late 90's/early2000's.
Also got a zip drive with SALTY written on it in marker. Deeky? That you?

Parr of my ERHBC order came 2 days after I sent for it, as usual. Sadly, no catalogue was enclosed. Maybe it will arrive with the rest of the books?

Received a great new fanzine called Attic Basement via word-of-mouth. It's slightly similar to Hypno in that the author intends to take on a theme each issue. This issue is "Sword & Sorcery". Unlike Hypno, she does movies and books. She's a librarian and has a really enjoyable writing style. Literally laugh-out-loud at times. I have to admit, when I first had a look, I wasn't sure I'd even dig into it, as it's done in tiny text on pink paper, making it a little hard on the eyes. Instead, I started reading her takes on some favorites, and then just kept on going through the rest.

My mail situation is... problematic, in as much as my local PO definitely has some dipshits among its ranks, plus I actually have two mailboxes (the apartment that my mother and I live in is technically two apartments with a door in the wall that connects them), but the key to one of them no longer works. I have tried to communicate to the mail carrier that he/she should put everything that comes for us in 4A and never 4B, but he/she doesn't always seem to understand that. Not too long ago, he/she also left the entire bank of boxes open, which, while not great, did give me a chance to see if there was anything in the 4B box. And there was, which is my long-winded way of explaining why I am just now thanking Kobb for the latest issue of Hypno and the Electric Company disk!

And it took me a ridiculous length of time just to finally get that sent out to you. Like, we talked about The Electric Company kids show many months ago somewhere on this board, and I got that sent out to you a year or so later. Well, at least you didn't find disputed old bank checks or anything, I guess.
But the real reason I'm dredging up this thread today is for this gorgeous mailbox I passed today while visiting a friend's house. Behold!
