I can't find an It Came In the Mail thread on the new board, so I'm starting a new It Came In the Mail thread.
It's bumping down my Brothels and Bordellos thread, but, since some of you other ZAQBers will be getting stuff in the mail related to that thread, in your own mailboxes, that is OK.
You can respond or not respond on what I've mailed out.
Do What Thou Wilt . . .
Recently Dr. Kobb sent me via "the mail," an early to mid 1970s film, High School Fantasies, on DVD, and I watched it in two sittings, at normal speed.
I'll comment more if this thread takes off and goes anywhere.
I had also gotten from Dr. Kobb, sometime Back, Henry's Night In, a 1969 BW film of kind of bridge between the old fashioned "nudie" films (then color) and the soon to follow "similuated sex" films (back to usually in color) of the late 1960s and early 1970s.
I watched part of Henry's Night In, but not to the end, but now, am ready to watch the rest of the film, at normal speed, to the very end, and I'll comment on it, along with High School Fantasies (as usual, with the "high schoolers" well into their twenties or thirties, and looking nothing like high school students. Remember how paranoid Something Weird Video got over films with "high school," "teenage," and "young" in the title, changing the titles, or even dropping altogether, films with well into their 30s actors and actresses playing "young" sters?

Just FYI, you're not required to name threads exactly the same as they were at the old board.

Thanks for telling me that, Mr. Webmaster. Thanks for reading and replying to my comment, Mr. Cock Goddess. I think it's good to call people by their titles. Remember the Outer Limits episode, where Ed Asner played a police detective named Serollio (It crawled out of the woodwork)? Someone called him Mr. Serollio, and he corrected thenm saying, "Detectve Sorollio. We like our titles." To be nit picky and precise, I don't see Mr. before Cock Goddess. I suppose Mr Monster Cock from the old board (which did have a Mr. in front of it) is permanently retired. This little colliquy (to quote the swishy, campy Mr. Zeno, also an Outer Limits denizen) has cost me too much time which I need to locate Rowen and Martin (like Duke Mitchell and Sammy Petrillo, they were trhing to be ersatz Martin & Lewises. Don't know if I told you ZAQBers or one of you Zaqbers told me that Sammy Petrillo was a protege of Jerry Lewis and Jerry apparently taught his shtick to Sammy too well, and Jerry ended up filing a lawsuit against Sammy for being too similar to his own act with Dino. Sammy reportedly had hard feelings toward Jerry because of it, altho Sammy did have a successful comedy theater which produced some name stars). Reading up on Rowan Martin, one of them was considered dumb and the other smart, but they weren't Martin & Lewis clones by any stretch of the imagination. Both of their feature films one in the 1950sm, and the other in the 1960s, were considered bombs). Well, I'm stropping this waste of my time now, and will try to locate the episode of laugh in where Rowman and Martin awarded the Flying Fickle Finger of Fate award to Sheriff Woodrow Carter for closing Sunset Lodge. I was a bit mystified that Miss Hazel "asked" the Sheriff to close the joint, but now understand, that was to avoid a court case, and criminal charges against Miss Hazel, which I think was a wise move on her part.

To be nit picky and precise, I don't see Mr. before Cock Goddess. There is no Mr. before Webmaster either. Thanks for pointing that out, Webmaster. I went to the Rowan and Martin's Laugh in episode guide, and the very eariiest Sheriff Carter could have gotten the award would have been episode 55, of December 29, 1969. I scrolled far into 1970 and couldn't find Sheriff Carter's award. So, I'll just have to go to the newspaper and check out the letter columns to find the letter from the man who was so indignant over the matter. I wonder if Rowan and Martin ever sent actual were they bronze? statues of the award to the recepients, or possibly a select few? I'm sure that sending actual statures to everone who won the award would have been too expensive. And, would Sheriff Carter have taken it in good humor, and proudly displayed the award in his office, or would he have not liked it, and returned the award to Rowan and Martin?

I received the Brothels article Billy, but haven't read it yet.
Glad to hear the movies had a home there, although you didn't sound particularly enthused about either. I just binge-watched eight adult (R-XXX rated) movies with actors playing high school & college students for the "Back to School" issue of my lil' movie fanzine.

To answer several things from both Deeky and Dr. Kobb.
The letter to the Sun News was apparently from a woman, not a man, and was about like I remember it. she was offended by a report on those closing Sunset Lodge and the Fickle Finger of Fate award.
It was not clear, in her referring to an article with no byline, apparently, whether Rowan and Martin had actually made the award on their show, or if someone viewer of their show had suggested that they do so.
Unfortunately, she did not say what date the article appeared in the Sun News, altho her letter was probably published in the final issue of March, 1970, 6 months after the closing of the house, which, if Rowan and Martin had mentioned it on their show would have been "old" news, but if they did mention it on their show, it could have been from a fan letter sent in months after the closing.
On the usually second page of section A, and sometimes the second page of Section C of the Sun News, there were a number of columns with bylines, and few were uncredited.
I'm not sure whether it was in the Sun-News or some other newspaper that I might have first heard of Rowan and Martin's award in relation to Sunset Lodge and its closing.
The microfilm is very dim and blurry, plus my closeup eyesight is not good at all, sometimes requiring 2 different strengths of eyeglasses.
Finding that one short letter to the editor was enough hard work for me on that project for today and for awhile into the future.

Dr. Kobb, I thought I noted the total running length of Henry's Night in, along with how far I had watched the film, on the sleeve of the DVD, but that wasn't the case, so I'll have to go thru my notebooks to find that data.
From what I have watched it was a good film for what it was, but I still need to watch all of it before commenting fuirther.
High School Fantasies was good, in that it ran only 70 mins, and while it delivered the porno, it had more than just porno scenes, and I liked the old fashioned music that played in the background throughout the film.
Robert Rimmer, in Vol. 1 of his X rated Videotape Guide, gives it a Collectors Choice rating.
My liking that film is what motivated me to want to finish watching Henry's Night in.

Well, I'm glad you enjoyed at least parts of both discs. Neither is obligatory viewing, and I'm glad that you did find some time to pop them in. After all, it's not like you asked to see them. I pretty much sent them without warning. Just a couple I'd seen recently that had at least moments I thought you'd like. I wrote my thoughts about Henry's in a previous issue of the zine, and will send you the newest issue, where I talk some about High School Fantasies.

I did see High School Fantasies First Run at the Cine art house. I might have told Dr. Kobb that by PM.
I've just finished my mini project of looking thru the surprisingly short Kinsey Stag film collection, and no real leads on HIM.
I think Kinsey's Swedish Erotica collection is still worth checking out, tho.

*Unless you'd rather not. It's just more X-rated filth. I'm considering "horror-comedies" for the Halloween issue, though.

Billy - I honestly don't understand why you are pursuing this whole notion about the award for the bordello on Laugh In. I don't mean to harp, but I don't understand what you hope to achieve from it. Vindication that your memory is still intact? Vindication that a little local landmark made the national scene by being featured on a hit show back in the late 60's? What?!?
But I did read the article last night. I got nothing to add. It was an article about a former house of ill repute. Did I miss something that you thought I would be particularly interested in?
