So, Lily-Cat has been living with me for just over 24 hours now. The first night she ran and hid and stayed hid, including finding open spaces inbetween my cupboard walls I didn't know were there. This morning as I went to dialysis I had her shut up in my guest bathroom, and when I got home, I sat in there and played with her for a while. This seemed to be what it took to get her going on acclimation. She's still frightened sometimes by standing me (but is affectionate and playful when sitting or on the floor/couch), when she wants to sleep she goes back to one of her hiding spots, and when she's awake she's a mile a minute. Currently she's sitting under my chair, continuing her battle against the scourge of this world, my feet. Also, she's tiny, and beautiful, and I loves her to pieces.

I can see why, she's so friggin adorable. Are her eyes brown or gold?

kind of a pale golden I'd say, yeah. She's very active and comfortable around me now day three. She's a goof, and I've watched her fall off of so many things already. She's definitely my girl lol.

Ha Ha! There's a big flock of migrating birds in the neighborhood this AM, and poor kitteh is going nuts with all these interlopers in her yard.

Since things have leveled out slightly on the home front, I've booked myself some time to get back to KY and finally (finally) get around to weeding through things and boxing up thangs and otherwise shoving things along to the point where I can either sell the house or rent it out. (Haven't decided yet.) But...I'm going to have to leave my cats with my mom while I'm out there. I'm leaving in about a week, and will be in KY for nearly three months. This is going to be difficult for me because, well, I'm going to be going through a lot of Jeff's stuff, and I'm so used to having my fuzzbutts around me. My old man Thor cat is my bed buddy (he comes and meows at me if I'm not in bed when he's ready to snuggle), and he's the one who's acclimated the least to my mom. I'm actually thinking of asking a former coworker out there if she'd be willing to lend me one of her cats for the time I'm out there.

That's a creative solution. It can't hurt to ask. Although the dirty looks when you head back to Californy smelling of a strange cat fill me with dread just thinking about them.

Well, at least they're not likely to eat her, since, between them, the portions would be so small.

Well, now she'll really want to race home and face them, Greenie.

Well, I bit the financial bullet and am taking Thor out with me. We'll both suffer in economy class. And the best part is apparently the hour or so flight between Chicago and the local regional airport nearest my KY home has asploded somehow into a nearly 3 hour flight.

This expression is priceless. I added it to my "A Few Criminals" Pinterest file:

Did anyone but me notice that the cat watching the horror movie and the Abercombie Flinch cat appear to be the same one???

It may be the light, but it looks to me as if the A&F cat has a white area between its eyes.
