I am not going to lie, I am geeked to the gills for October tomorrow. I don't know why, but I always wait until it's official to do stuff like decorations and starting challenges. I've got the yard ready, I've got all the Halloween garbage dragged to this end of the house, I have my short horror stories and radio show episodes picked out for the entire month, and it looks like clear weather for the next ten days. As long as i don't have one of those overnight bugs like last year (where I lost seven pounds in one night - fun!) I have high hopes for Halloween this year.

Rats. House a few streets over had a nice little table stand sitting streetside yesterday. Wouldn't fit in my car, so I checked to see if it was still there today. Nope. Was planning to use it in the Carport of Terror.

I picked up a disc called Grotesqueries, which has a whole bunch of Halloween-ish shorts on it, mostly from the 20s and 30s. The highlight has to be. . .this:

Just assembled my color-changing weeping willow tree from Home Depot. Hard to tell in the daytime, but I think this thing is going to look wicked at night.

Halloween prickly fish bun here. I finally intended on utilizing this AtmosphereFX knock-off projector in one of my windows this year. I purchased it half-off from Walmart several years ago, but other Halloween window ideas took precedence and/or I just didn't have the energy/free time to set it up and give it a whirl. As near as I can tell, itsa broka. *sob!*

A friend told me about a viral trend where you purchase old thrift shop paintings and paint them to be spooky for Fall. Here are the ones he and his fiance did one afternoon. I love all the different ways people celebrate their spooky season.

Try telling that to the retailers. Many are already pushing the Halloween stock out and cramming in the Christmas.

Well, for starters, Starburst will never even come in third in Michigan.

I got the greatest Halloween inspiration before I'd even gotten out of bed today. Okay, you know how everybody and their brother has a twelve foot skeleton for Halloween these days? And do you remember those old movies where two kids would try to sneak into an age-restricted venue by standing on one's shoulders and wearing a trench coat, so that it would appear to be an average-to-large-sized adult at the ticket booth? I want to do the same thing next year, but with two regular-sized skeletons. Right? Like, I couldn't afford a giant skeleton, and am trying to fool observers with this plainly obvious forgery.
I have a 10ft rebar pole that would provide support. Now I just need to figure out how to fabricate a giant-sized trenchcoat. Those poseable skeletons are not the sturdiest, so the fabric would need to be similar to the light stuff used for costumes. A good rain-soaking of thick fabric can literally weigh them down to their breaking point.

Also, my sister had her own creative inspiration and crafted a terrific Halloween wreath to replace the old, faded one currently hanging on my door. I would share a look, but the pic she sent was in some dumb HEVC-mode which I'd need to install a new codec to view/share on my PC. Darn it.
