Started up The Terror. Not at all what I was expecting, but I'm enjoying it nonetheless. Juni and I watched that, too, earlier this month. I enjoyed it more than the book, which although very well written, is inexcusably long in proportion to its narrative ambitions, and falls apart into utter nonsense at the end. The miniseries tells a much tighter story despite sometimes skipping as much as a year between episodes, and the monster stuff ends up feeling like it organically means something, as opposed to being just a bitchin' idea that the author ultimately had no clue how to use.

I watched The Terror last year when it first aired and I liked it a lot too. It was more of an outright horror story than I had realized it would be. Plus, it was very well proportioned. It was as brutal as it needed to be when it needed to be, and like that.
Meanwhile, three episodes in, I can say unreservedly that everyone here will enjoy HBO's Los Espookys. Four friends start a horror show business. In the first episode, they put on a fake exorcism, in the second, they do a people staying in a haunted house for an inheritance bit, etc. Trust me, you'll like it.

Has anyone else here been following the Starz adaptation of "American Gods"? (And have I asked this question before?)

I have not, although I am an Orlando Jones fan. Worthwhile?

It looks like I can snag an episode (is there a third already?) from my usual source-piles. Can't get the first one, for some reason.

Worthwhile? Yes. Uneven? Unfortunately, also yes. The series starts off close to the novel plotline and rapidly spins off into its own thing (which isn't bad, but is definitely a different story than the novel). Excellent episodes are usually uniformly so. Uneven eps juxtapose really great moments with "we can do this with CGI so we're gonna" (especially true of the 'new Gods' in Season 2). Been watching. Will keep watching.

Yeah, they had an American Gods panel discussion at the last local fantasy convention, but having never read the source material or seen the show, didn't bother. Didn't I hear a couple of months ago that it was on it's final season? Or is it already done?

I think the series ran into some casting issues and it nearly crashed right after season 1 wrapped up. Season 1 and season 2 are complete --my best guess is there will be third season, and that's it. Book is (as is almost always the case) more complex than the screen adaptation, and can afford a slower pace. Still worth watching on TeeVee though --just keep in mind it's a loose adaptation. They did leave in the semi-divine butt-fucking part, though, so at least one episode might be amusing for Deeky.

As of tonight, five. I will be watching the new installment in about an hour myself. Assuming my DVR didn't fuck it up or anything.
Sadly, they're apparently only doing six this time around. I hope it gets re-upped.

Watched Tom Hardy's limited series Taboo about a British man trying to secure a monopoly on the Chinese tea trade during the War of 1812.

Glad I finally got it together to watch At Home with Amy Sedaris. That woman is whatever the equivalent of a peach is in North Carolina.

Been bingeing on Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Mainly just concentrating on episodes with comedians I like. Might go back later and try some of those of less interest.

I worked through both very short seasons of Fleabag on Netflix. Fun stuff!

After hearing about it for years and being mildly curious, I finally watched an episode of Drunk History. If this one was any indication, I am looking forward to catching up. This was the recent Mary Shelley and Frankenstein episode, and my head almost turned inside out, I was laughing so hard. And as if I didn't already have enough reason to be smitten with Evan Rachel Wood, she was fucking amazing in this.

Huge shout out to Netflix for gifting die-hard Invader Zim fans a new feature length adventure after all these years. And it's like they didn't miss a beat!

I've been enjoying Prodigal Son, which is a cross between a procedural and then has an overarcing plot involving the protagonist and his in-jail serial killer father. It's a lot of fun and wears its inspirations on its sleeves. I've also been watching Evil, which is so far pretty trashy and fun for all the wrong reasons with me (a team trying to debunk miracles and possessions?)

The Mandalorian I never really got the Boba Fett fandom, given that he never actually does anything. So if they had gone ahead and made a series about him, I would have probably never watched it. But I have to say this show is actually really good.

I have to say, you're right about Fett not really doing anything, and yet, I feel that there was certain enigmatic quality about him. I can't even say why, I just remember feeling that at the time.
