Since that now-lost website no longer tells us what crazy-ass holidays are in effect, why not mention them at ZAQB as we become aware of them?
I say that because a guy on the radio just noted that today is not only Mothers' Day, but also Butterscotch Brownie Day and National Lost Sock Memorial Day.
What he didn't explain is whether he refers to blondies, or regular brownies with a butterscotch layer or added pieces of Wertham's Original or what.

AND it's something called Flower Day in the UK. More than one of my British gardening compatriots at an app where I post plant photos has appeared there today wearing goofy, yet MIDSOMMER-ish flower crowns.

I love all those whimsical holiday wannabees, too. I've used this site for years just to check in and see what kooky holidays I might be able to celebrate any particular day. For instance, today is May 11th, and according to their list, it's not only "Eat What You Want" Day, but also "Twilight Zone" Day! I can definitely rally behind both. |

Not nearly as complete as the one MWNP scared up for us -- at least I think it was him -- but definitely a start. |

Dunno if I ever saw any of his holiday calendar collections, but if you click on the bottom of each month's listing at the above site, it links to the more rarefied ones. i.e. - Daily May holidays and special days. For instance, today Wednesday the 12th is: Fatigue Syndrome Day, International Nurses Day, Limerick Day, National Receptionist Day, and School Nurses Day. |

We used to have a holidays calendar on the original Mez board, and you could add snarky little descriptions when you added them. Piffles started out maintaining it every month and then I inherited those duties after a while, can't remember why we switched. Good way to give your one-liner muscles a workout.

Kobbers just posted elsewhere that today, 6/4, is National Hug Your Cat Day.
Yesterday I heard on the radio that June 3rd is National Egg day. The DJ followed up with the inevitable joke about how he wasn't sure if National Chicken day came yesterday...or maybe tomorrow.

I learned while clearing junk mail out of a little-used email acct that I clean missed National Candy Month (June) and National Friends Day (July 30th). The fact that my hatching day has been associated with a drivelous human television program featuring a talentless cast depicting the lives of twentysomething yuppie bobos makes me want to accelerate our plans to wipe out your planet and every species on it  |
