8/8 is International Cat Day! I swear it seems like it pops up about once a month. I'm wondering if the cat lobby snuck in cat-centric celebrations under slightly different guises: International Cat Day; National Cat Day; Cat month; Day of Cats; and so on. |

Not exactly a holiday, but Aug 18th is the 104th anniversary of women winning the right to vote. Naomi Wolf said we didn't really get out there and vote until Bill Clinton ran for president. I have a feeling that the turnout will be rather better this year.  |

August 20th is National lemonade Day. Ironic as it's unseasonably cool today, more of a hot tea type of temperature.

Was still up to 96-degrees today, but it didn't feel anything near as bad as it has thanks to lower humidity. It's going to be like this for the next week or so, too! |

It was 58 here when I woke up this morning and it barely broke 75 at the hottest part of the day. |
