Yeah, the Republicans keep lowering the bar. I didn't think it could get any worse than 'W', and then along came Drumpf. Alarmingly, in a recent poll, more people would vote him back in over Biden. One way ticket to Canada, please.
I don't know where that poll came from, but I don't believe it. Trump's numbers are ultra-shitty. His own people are turning their backs on him. The crowds at his rallies have been low. I mean, as always, I never say never, but I think the thing a second Trump candidacy is most likely to get us is at least four more years of a Democratic White House. In that case, bring it on! But I think they're working on charging his inarticulate ass with enough crimes to prevent that...

For many of these people, that bit Trump said at some rally about being able to murder someone in broad daylight and get away with it* is Gospel truth in that he can do no wrong in their eyes.
*I'm paraphrasing. i really don't have enough free time in my evening to look up that goober's exact quotes.

I get what you mean, but I'm talking nationally. This is not a popular person in this country. Again, very low favorability ratings, stinky attendance at his rallies. The GOP is terrified that he's going to tank their entire future for them, but they're also too shit-scared to defy the Magats, because they're, you know, psychotic and violent. My primary fear is that Biden's numbers don't eventually go back up again (although I'm fairly sure they will), and the GOP manages to put Dips Face in Tang into a long enough and deep enough meat coma to secure the nomination for DeSmugAss or some other neo-fascist beta model, and the ones who don't pay fucking attention actually buy that they're worth giving a shot simply because they don't have a record of having tried to destroy the government after having largely destroyed the country.

The scary bit is all the conspiracy theorists the Repugs are maneuvering into position to decide vote counts... I really wish they could set up a RICO-warrant-style mass arrest of all their stupid asses. This may be the first time in history stupidity has been proven to be illegal. Nay: seditious.

My current guestimates on this are: DeSantis beats Biden but Biden beats Trump but Trump beats any other currently plausible Democratic candidate (some of whom might be capable of beating DeSantis) in a normal, two-contender election. However, I have no idea in hell who wins in a Republican primary between Trump and DeSantis, and I'm pretty sure that if Trump loses the primary, he runs as an independent, thereby splitting the fascist and fascist-curious vote in the general election.

I have just been informed at GardenTags that this is National Moth Week! The only correct thing to do is to watch MAMA or possibly THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS...

Today, August 3rd, is National Watermelon Day. You all know what to do.

It's an interesting question because one has to wonder what his dogged followers in the GOP are going to do. Join him? Abandon their old party, leaving the wreckage behind them? Come to their senses, already? I can never decide if they follow him because they actually agree with him or because they think their voters do.

Some would go with him, some wouldn't. That's the point. My sense is that some of them, but probably not as many as it seems, genuinely believe the shit he says (only a percentage of the Doodle Demon himself actually believes what he says; I'm convinced he has daily moments of clarity that he spends screaming into a mirror). Some of them are genuinely scared of the MAGATs, for good reason.

Today, August 3rd, is National Watermelon Day. You all know what to do. My watermelon day was ruined late in my shift last night by an Asian Karen (Karin?) who had me dig down to the bottom of one of our melon bin for just the right melons for some work assembly she had going on today. Fuck you, Karin.

I would've assumed you liked pawing melons.

Fuck you, Karin. Question: did she seem like a local, or someone who'd moved to the U.S. recently? U.S. produce is utter trash by most East Asian standards --and as the shopkeeper, you'd be responsible for trying to move sub-par stock. Japan, for example, is the home of the $10 strawberry and the $95 watermelon.
