This past Sunday, Juniper and I went up to New York to see a couple of Emmanuelle/Emanuelle movies on the big screen at the Quad Cinema, and managed to get home at a not completely stupid hour afterwards. Now that we know that's a viable model, I think we'll be doing it quite a bit more often. Also, the Basque restaurant (imaginatively called "Spain") where we had dinner before the show was just fucking phenomenal.

I managed to shoehorn all but one of my clients into a yet another goddamn 4-day week. It's gonna be a miracle if I don't get dinged for not seeing enough of my clients this winter. So far so good, though.

What do they serve in a Basque restaurant called "Spain"? Or maybe that information belongs in the Zombielight Café. I had the breaded veal in almond sauce, while Juniper had some kind of stew involving ham, shrimp, poached eggs, and bits of some sausage that seemed equally akin to chorizo and andouille. The same sausage was served to us (along with wee little meatballs and mussels stuffed with Christ knows what) as a tapas-style appetizer, unbidden and free! I also had a glass of a terrific brandy called Cardenal Mendoza, which I'll definitely be looking for at the snooty boozatorium that recently opened up down the street from us between the kickboxing gym and the Pizza Hut. |

That sounds like a terrible idea. I wouldn't have thought to try it on beans, but I've enjoyed considerable success using apple cider (usually with a shot of bourbon added) as the liquid medium for slow-cooking pork loin. |

It's the same thing every time when i get home with this cat. First she's literally cussing me out in cat. Then we spend a few minutes grooming and worshiping her Ladyship (to much purring and snuggling). Then silence as she dives into a new 16 hour sleeping jag. I have no idea what would happen after two weeks. We'd probably need to be totally reacquainted.

The last day of the three day convention made up for the previous two. Actually, the con was overall great, I just wasn't in a crowd kind of mood the first two days. Even if they are the sorts of freaks and weirdos I'm typically fine with.
Anyway, today had the sorts of geeky panels and discussions I enjoy most out of conventions. There's a lot of shit I missed (apparently Shatner brought down the house at his Q&A), and I only got in a quick handshake and gushing fan blather with Jeffrey Combs (because I had to rush off to another panel). And he's just one of several celebrities I'd hoped to spend a minute with.
Anyway, I got through the thing without spending too much money, and the $50 three-day-pass was most definitely worth it. I just wasn't in the right mood to totally immerse in fantasy/sci-fi for three straight days this year, I guess.
