I got a pay raise yesterday and it wasn't even our annual one. That's still coming!

Well, I didn't say what I had to do to get it.

I AM GOING TO THIS AND OMG I AM SO EXCITED What does one wear to an event like that? I would have no idea how to show up.

Pensacon was (for me) another fine long weekend event. Had a great time and once again, it seemed to fly by at warp speed. Lots that I missed or only barely got to acknowledge, but the things I opted for were a lot of fun. I still haven't been to the big costume contest event and this convention is four years running now. And after brushing up some on Barbara Hershey and Kristy Swanson, I barely got to see any of either. Missed both actresses' Q&A panels! Like I say, the stuff I did attend was fun, and of course, just people-watching is great at this sort of event. Met lots of other interesting fans of all persuasions. Won some free swag, bought a couple of books, a killer Fright Night tee by a top-notch horror/fantasy artist done especially for the con (he signed it, too!). Laughed my ass off during late night game-show type nonsense with some genuinely funny actors and just all-in-all dug the upbeat, polite, genuinely decent people that fantasy/sci-fi/comic/etc fans in general are. At least when they are actually rubbing shoulders with each other in public settings. The horror got short shrift this time (as compared to previous years) but the Fright Night reunion was legendary, and the director is a genuine cinefile himself, and the love shows through when he talks about hrror and movies.
Well, cat says stop typing...

After almost five days of living in darkness, and with no heat, I finally have power again. Fuck you, winter.

That sounds awful. Everything okay now? How'd you keep warm? Did you have any emergency supplies on hand?
Anybody else on board in a similar situation during this new nor'easter?
My heart goes out. Due to what I do, I can handle a certain level of cold higher than many average Floridians, but I really wouldn't like five days of sub-zero sans power at ALL.

No pets died? No toes needed to be amputated? No wendigo buttrape in the middle of the night? You know, everything.

By those measurements, yes, everything is okay.

How'd you keep warm? Did you have any emergency supplies on hand? Lots of blankets. Probably slept under at least six. Cat cuddles helped, too. As far as emergency rations, I had lots of soup (my blood pressure is now super fucked) and some tealight candles. I had hot water and the stove top remained working the entire time. Those were the only good things.

I did get through Hypno (top-notch stuff, by the way), but I had to schedule all of my reading prior to sundown.
