Only insofar as it receives a shoutout in the version of Black Flag's "TV Party" that appears on the SST pressing of Damaged. (The Roadrunner pressing of that album uses the 7" version of the song, which may namedrop a different selection of TV shows.) |

Nice get, Mayz! I can't remember if I ever watched any "NNTN", but I remember Rich Hall from something.* We had a couple of the books around the house for awhile.
Lotsa late night sketch comedy-type shows vying to be the next SNL back then. Anybody remember "Fridays"? "SCTV" of course. Later "MadTV". I didn't get to see too many of those, either. Seems like there were some others from back then I'm brainfarting on...
I loved FRIDAYS, not least because it introduced me to Michael Richards and Larry David. I have a "best of" collection from that show that includes the Clash's very first American TV appearance, among many other glittering gems... |

I have been meaning for a long time to take a look at that, largely because of Richards and David, and also because I'm just generally fascinated by sketch comedy. I do remember seeing an ad for it one night. The only thing I really remember was a snippet of a sketch that was basically a bunch of people chasing each other around a room and the camera suddenly switches to bird's eye view and they look like they're on a Pacman board.
Edit: Wow, they had a lot of great bands on there. I absolutely have to see the episode featuring Shelley Winters and The Plasmatics.

Listening right now to Biden's first press conference. So goddamned good to hear the 46th president show that he just fucking well gets it. He knows and understands President Xi; he knows and understands Mitch McConnell; he understands that the attempts right now to limit voting rights "make Jim Crow sound like Jim Eagle" (his words). He understands how to deploy international aid to reduce the number of people fleeing for their lives into our country. He understands how to create jobs and fix our infrastructure problems at the same time. All those basics that 45 could not begin to comprehend because in his blinkered Richie Rich world "nobody knew how complicated it was."
The guy in charge gets it. He's handling it. I can sleep better now and you all can because the Fucktard in Chief is gone and people who get it are back in charge.

Yesterday I went for a walk and a couple blocks away I found one of these Tiny Libraries. They had a copy of G. Gordon Liddy's autobiography so I took it. A few blocks later I threw it in a garbage can. He died today. 😆 |
