There was a guy on a bicycle with a flashlight inspecting the little free library as I arrived home around 10:20pm. When I got out of the car, we waved and he said, "Thanks for setting this up". Made me feel good because I used to do the same thing when I lived as a renter in a different part of town (riding around at night visiting curbside book boxes).

Bonus happy: Everyone down here is mighty unhappy about the switch from Gulf Power Co. to Florida Power and Light. People have seen obscene increases on their power bills. Supposedly, it's just temporary, but that's not much consolation.
So, why am I happy? Well, for whatever reason, my power bills have remained about the same as previous years. Of course, at this time of year, I'm using more natural gas for heating and water heating. Might change my tune when we get into the hot season.

Me and Marxo Grouch have been collaborating on a song. I'm doing the music and he's doing vocals. And he has been NAILING IT! He's such a great singer and knows exactly what to bring to the performance. I can't wait to share the final product with you.

Sweet! Looking forward to hearing that. Will it be posted down in the arts ghetto of the board? I honestly don't visit there that often, so I might need a heads-up.

Ultimately it will be posted to my Bandcamp page for download. I'm not sure where it will go here, presumably in the art thread.

I'd rather we went back to whatever it was before daylight savings time. I don't care for it in the summer here when the sun is still up at 8pm. I like it when it gets dark between 5-7pm.
But, it will be nice to settle on one or the other regardless.

Standard Time. It's called Standard Time. I wonder what the Chinese think of this; they have one time zone for the whole country.

Got $400 from my car-insurance carrier! I heard everyone with Michigan car insurance was getting a check but I assumed it wouldn't apply to me, as usual.

A friend asked me over lunch how long I've been at my job and I did the math. In a week I'll have been here 15 years. Counting the 5 years of seniority I bought I am going to be a 20-year employee in a matter of a few days.
And my latest mortgage bill says I now owe substantially less than $20,000 on my place.
AND I just talked to Investment Gal who informed me that my average return on those investments has been 12% per year, where usually 6 to 8% is considered really good. So I have some savings, in spite of my dad's repeated dire warnings that I was TEN YEARS BEHIND EVERYONE ELSE MY AGE.
So I'm feeling almost kind of financially secure!

That is a good feeling indeed. My goal is to make it another decade or so doing what I do, and I might be able to retire in a frugal sort of way. I probably won't be reduced to eating cat food, but I won't be able to see the world or anything. That's fine. I'm into the idea of just puttering around in the yard in my old age.
