You can rip your own heart out of your chest and stomp on it for over ninety minutes, or you can watch "The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry" (2023) like I did. I'd spare yourself some soul wrenching agony and roll with former.

Caught an afternoon show of "Talk to Me" (2023) earlier. Rare case of a horror movie living up to the hype. Hard to believe it's the directors' first horror effort. Well writ and immaculate ending.
Kind of sad that there were more staff ready to do clean up post showing than actual attendees. Granted, it was a mid-afternoon viewing on a blistering hot Thursday...

"To Catch a Killer" (2023) Even at two hours this was a taut, tense thriller. Deadly killer fucks up Baltimore's New Years eve celebrations. FBI guy is called in. He personally requests a beat cop as an assistant to help catch this ghost-like killer before they go off again (which of course does happen). Alternate title is "Misanthrope", which in some ways is more accurate. Absolutely worth a look.

Kids murdering people, on the other hand. One of my favorite horror subgenres!

Saw William Castle's "Mr Sardonicus" (1961) last night. Decent period piece about a doctor who travels out to a Slovakian backwater area to help a rich count with a horrible deformity. Lots of fun gothic grue done on the cheap Castle-style. I don't know what it would cost, but man, I would love to have a fogger do the kinds of things movie fog machines did back in the day.

Just downloaded the soundtrack! Love those classic orchestral scores for older horror films.

Watched "The Nun" (2018) last night. It's part of the whole "The Conjuring" franchise of movies. I wasn't sure if I had even seen it or not. It's okay. Suffers from some of the overkill of so many of today's horror movies, but I think that most fans want that over-the-top energy, so I really can't fault them for not taking a more subdued approach. Lots of jump scares and sudden loud noises. Shit got almost Biblical towards the climax. What I did love about it was the gloriously gothic, eerie atmosphere. Apparently, much was filmed in Romania and the locations and settings just drip with creepy goodness. Especially liked several of the graveyard scenes and outer scenes of the castle and monastery.
Anyway, now that I've seen that, I can go into "The Nun 2" in September with an idea of what's going on.

I Know What I Saw Interviews with people who saw UFOs. Not super compelling.

I Know What I Saw Interviews with people who saw UFOs. Not super compelling. Several people were freaking out on our local Nextdoor about a green object that moved across the sky Friday night. Then, someone mentioned to them that the Perseids were putting on a show this weekend and the furor died down a bit.

Humongous (1982) – Canadian horror about some annoying college age kids who constantly make the worst decisions possible after wrecking their boat and winding up on an island with a madman suffering from acromegaly. There are a few scattered moments of gory horror that stand out, but otherwise it’s a slog watching these kids constantly split up and just generally display sheer stupidity.

As I recall, that was an example of the poster making the movie look a lot freakier than it turned out to be.

As I recall, that was an example of the poster making the movie look a lot freakier than it turned out to be. Yeah, I mean nearly every horror movie is about people with judgement lapses, but ones like "Humongous" just display lazy writing. I was literally throwing my hands up shouting "COME ON!" through parts. It has nearly every stalker movie stereotype you can think of.

The Rifftrax Live event for the 80's movie "RAD" was fun, as expected. Man, did it make me want to hop on my bicycle when I got home!

Fire in the Sky Aliens abduct and anally probe Travis Walton in the skies above Arizona. Is that the one with the really terrifying scene with the aliens examining dude on a slab in an otherwise pitch black space?

"Son, you got a panty on your head." Is that from the movie? I'm sorry. Not picking up on the reference.
