The Serpent and the Rainbow More Craven nonsense, this time about voodoo. You haven't really experienced this film unless you've also read the book it's based on. The contrast is...startling. I've never read the book, but eons ago, during my first graveyard shift at a grocers, I read a Fate Magazine interview with Wade Davis and was so impressed I brought it up 40 years later on an online message board.

Well, just to give you a general idea: Except for Wade Davis going to Haiti to study Voodoo and interviewing Clairvius Narcisse, not a single. Fucking. Thing. that you saw in the movie happened in the book. No being buried alive. No winkie torture by TonTon Macoute. No etheric encounter with a skeleton wearing a wedding dress. None of it.

Civil War I don't know why anyone would make this movie in 2024 and have zero politically to say.

I'm through the first two 4+hr episodes of "In Search of the Dark". Kind of melancholy about that as I'm enjoying it so much. Good news is, I still have a 5+hr third episode to go!

Shakedown Peak Reagan-era reactionary trash. Looks fun. Been considering a bad cops issue of Hypno. Would it fit the bill?

Back to "Serpent & the Rainbow" for a sec. The Cursed Films episode was good if you get the chance. Even features Wade Davis.
