Only myself this time. Bored with how the line of questions was going, I made the assertion that it was a toss up between the 1940's or 1990's for worst horror movie decade, and Holland didn't appreciate the opinion of some nobody (and rightfully so, although I hold to my assertion). Hard to argue with because I can't even think of any horror movies that came out in the 1990s. Well, I'm a fan of Brian Yuzna and Stewart Gordon and the work of Screaming Mad George and all, so there's some bright spots to even the 90's for me. Same with the 40's. Got to love the Val Lewton stuff, and as Mr. Holland pointed out to me, "Abbot & Costello Meet Frankenstein" was a 40's movie.
It's not that both decades don't have some good horror, they just don't have as much as practically any other decade since the 1930's (strictly my opinion here).

I tell you I don't care one whit for Blumhouse and their jump-scare nonsense.

Crimson Peak Somehow not about mountain climbing but ghosts actually. Despite the ghosts, I hear its not really a "horror" per-se.

Cuckoo Mad science runs amok in the Alps. I saw the trailer for that when I saw "Oddity" at the movies months ago. How was it?

We saw "Dracula Has Risen from the Grave" (1968) last night, followed by most of "In Search of Dracula" (1975), which actually held up well as a documentary on vampire folklore after all these years. Did you know that vampires can have sex but that babies by vampires are boneless? I didn't.
