I had a fish tank once. What was in it, then? Well, read the book and find out!

I had a fish tank once. What was in it, then? I haven't read the book myself, but I expect the point is that our mental category of "fish" combines a range of creatures that aren't closely related at all, insofar as even a minimalist version would lump together salmon, lampreys, and great white sharks-- even though the former are more closely related to humans than they are to either of the latter species (which are themselves about as far apart from each other as humans and starfish).

Just ordered the 2021 Videohound's Golden Movie Retriever. It's apparently the final edition. I enjoy the back indexes of movie lists divided into subgenre's. I have the 2019 edition, which I purchased at a thrift for pennies-on-the-dollar. Didn't get away with such a bargain for this newer one. Stopped in at Barnes & Noble to see if they could order it in for me, but no luck there, so I just helped Bezos get a little bit richer.

Honestly, I'm astounded that books like that were still publishing as recently as last year, what with the functional extinction of video rental shops!

Honestly, I'm astounded that books like that were still publishing as recently as last year, what with the functional extinction of video rental shops! They do a commendable job of listing most any movie available through whatever format. Of course, they still miss loads of films, too. This 2019 volume has 2087 pages and I'd say a third of it is those indexes that I love so. I don't always agree with their takes or scores awarded on films, but I can live with that.

I had to smile when the main character in the 3rd novella met with the supernatural menace at the food court of the Monroeville Mall. ![](https://d28hgpri8am2if.cloudfront.net/book_images/onix/cvr9781982138004/if-it-bleeds-9781982138004_hr.jpg)

That's odd. They wrote the novel after the motion picture screenplay?

Yes. Frankly, I was expecting just a scene-by-scene replay of the movie, like any other movie tie-in novelization. But this is so very much more!

George Lucas had to walk back a lot of stuff from the novelization Alan Dean Foster wrote for Star Wars.

My print of the Anarchist Cookbook made it back to me. I left it behind years ago when I moved up to Atlanta, GA. My parents had it around for years, then my oldest sister thought it might be best not to have it out on the bookshelves in Dad's library, so she moved it to her house. And now it's back here with me. I wonder what it's worth?

I wonder what it's worth? First edition is worth anywhere between $500 and $4000 bucks, according to ABE. Later editions go for about $15 used.

Every now and then Social Media proves to be worthwhile. Case in point: I learned about this little gem on Twitter, thanks to Telestar. ![](https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1298432879l/6052582.jpg)
