Every one of them looks intriguing in its own way...

We had this children's book (English version) when I was little would love to see it again after all these years, but don't wanna pay the prices they want for it. My sister wound up with some of the books from our family library, but no one knows what happened to this treasure.

My sis surprised me with a copy of Alexander and the Magic Mouse when she arrived at Mom's. Really great seeing it again after so many decades.

So, quite a while back (it might not have even been this current board iteration) I mentioned wishing I could find an old, beloved book on walking called "The Joy of Walking". It was a 70's book with all sorts of great quotes and essays by a variety of thinkers about walking. Well, it's been a couple of years since I even bothered looking around for it, but I believe I may have found a new edition of it. The cover is different, but the insides sound the same. The current book is supposedly from 2020, and I didn't have any luck looking for earlier editions. Still, I'm probably going to take a chance and order it.

Well, this arrived a little while back. It's tiny compared to the book I loved back in the 80's, but it may indeed be the same, just formatted differently. Haven't had a chance to break cover on it. Waiting until I have a couple of other books finished.

I didn't think I'd like this, because it's yet another of the hundreds of academic books I'm assigned to read these days.
It's actually a really fantastic read.

Someone dropped a copy of this on my desk suggesting it as a therapy tool for kids with anxiety. I loved this book as a kid myself! ![](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51FZGhZJqtL._SL350_.jpg)

It's a classic of the era for sure. Those 2-layer mass-market paperback jackets were the bomb.

I just finished Ryu Murakami's Audition, the book on which the Takashi Miike movie of the same name was based. You will perhaps not be surprised that Miike's version of this story is much, much weirder than Murakami's, which is in many respects a pretty standard erotic thriller.

I was kind of expecting it to be worse and more of it.

And this! ![](https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51356aton2L._SX330_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg) That documentary "The Barkley Marathons: The Race That Eats It's Young" has a kooky connection to James Earl Ray.

It's an insanely difficult endurance race through the wilds of Tennessee that runners from all over the world attempt to compete in. It was loosely inspired by an escape attempt by JER from a prison nestled along a stretch of the course.
