Bought this book about cryptids from the author hisself at Pensacon earlier this year. It's well-written and lovely production values. One of the interesting aspects is how he discusses types of cryptids and then goes on to write about the various movies devoted to them. Probably shouldn't seem all that unusual an approach, considering it's published by the fine folks at Rue Morgue mag, but it's still an interesting touch.

Well cool. I was able to find both the G.S. Killer book and the new Fortean Times and the new Rue Morgue (with an article on "20 years of zombie babies"!) in separate trips to Books-a-Million and Barnes-&-Noble. Actually feels nice to have some reads lined up. Been spending too much of my before bed time just reading the Google news aggregate or following the NBA playoffs on my phone.

There is legit nothing scarier than an old white man. Well, Deeky, to those of you who saw Shallow Ground, and listened to the commentary by the producer / director forget his name, let's add " . . . and a nude teenage boy, covered in blood and chocolate brownie grave dirt, running around with a knife in his hand . . . " (in the case of that film, cute as a bug Rocky Marquette.)

I got detoured by having to respond to that last one, but with whatever got me off on this Brothels, Bordellos and Bawdy Houses Kick, since this thread is concerned with book acquisions, I kind of think I'd like to have a copy of Pauline's Memoirs of the Madam of Clay Street (remember the man with the French Poodle, and the other one who like to spread you know what on the crackers that he ate (yes, the Albert Fish close up on this thread was quite apt.
I seriously doubt that there was more than one printing of pauline's memoirs, and today the book could go either way: a ridiculously low price to clear out a seller's shelves, or a rarity for which a high price is demanded.
It could go either way.
I could imagine paulien's book as a large paperback possibly, but certainly not a small paperback, as the drawings (rther than photos) in it really neeeded a larg size format and best, hardcover binding) to be appreciated.
Pauline did not allow her men customer's to whip her girls, but she had no reservations about her girls whippiing men who wanted that kind of S & M, and the whipping could become quite vicious.
Pauline spares no details as to just what went on in her house on Clay Street.
I remember drinking neat brandy as I read that book.

I've never seen nor heard of Shallow Ground but I'll take your word for it on that film.

Well, Phil Hall's book on Lost Films, and Pauline Tabor's Pauline's, are "in transit, but since I'm going out of town to work at my job tomorrow, I won't be able to pick them up at the public library.
I won't mention that place S----- L----, and its madam, which has so annoyed some of you other ZAQBers, and am keeping my thoughts to myself.
I do hope, that since Pauline's book does contain some "explicit" descriptions of things that went on in her house, that those descriptions might be of interest to at least some of you other ZAQBers.
Also, Pauline, like Forry Ackerman, had some very firm moral principles, which I think some or even many of you other ZAQBers might appreciate.
So, I'll start a special thead on Pauline's house on Clay Street, and hope for better success than I've had with discussing that piddly little brothel outside of Georgetown, SC, and its "uglier than sin" madam, (altho I'm not agreeing with that description unless I see a photo that confirms it).
