Is he the asshole who got off on the "affluenza" plea? Oh, no, he went to prison for strangling Jennifer Levin back in the 1980s. Astoundingly, he was eventually paroled when IMHO he should have gone up for life. Never fear-- he went back to the slammer quickly for cola possession but I think he is back out again now. Wait. This was the Kennedy cousin guy? What a POS.

No, I think you're thinking of another guy. (William Something Something?) She means Robert Chambers. (To be fair, Chambers does look like he could be a Kennedy.) I actually got a taste of NYC high society one year when a girl whose parents were parishioners at Saint Thomas took me with her to the annual Black & White Ball, and it's a virtual certainty that both Levin and Chambers were there that night.

See, I didn't actually spend even tagential social time with any of that crowd --after a while they all sorta blur together in my mind. (Never could let me out in public ![](//storage.proboards.com/3406594/images/PkDlkBYdy0femnzoQtnn.png) .)

Aside from being all over the news, it was a fairly hot topic in the prep world writ large. I mean, neither one of us were of that world, but we were both in it. And I can't believe it took me this long to bring up the fact that my prep school band, Room X, had a song about it. 'Wild Sex Killed Jenny', after the famous headline from those paragons of taste and tact, the New York Putz.

'Wild Sex Killed Jenny', after the famous headline from those paragons of taste and tact, the New York Putz. Welp, Kent was kind of weird, in that sense. There was a considerable number of children from families with money, but for the most part they were either foreign, or came from outside the Tri-State area.
Actual "society" in the NY/New England sense was more sparsely represented. I suspect they were all at the more prestigious schools. Kent at the time was sort of between the top and next-lower layer of that ecosystem. And, without turning it into a whine, I spent those four years basically socially "out" --even the weird, artsy kids weren't lining up to make friends. A regrettable symptom of the time, the place, and my own personal complexes. I DO remember "Wild Sex Killed Jenny". The identity of the POS who did it had clearly slipped in my mind, however...

After a string of anxiety dreams caused by watching too many comedies I picked this up at the library. Now I'm sleeping like a baby. I knew Sean Gillis was an effed-up MFer, but Jesus.

I've heard some fascinating things about that EMDR therapy. Let me know how you liked the book.
I just made an Edward R. Hamilton order for a bunch of books to eventually go in the book box, after I've read them.

Titles!? So far, the EMDR book is dense and technical -- I'm on page 74 out of 491 -- but apparently actually doing it is simple as shit because they give you another book with a spiral-bound script you just follow word for word. The one I'm reading now just explains why you follow the script and wtf it all means.

As far as titles, do I have to? It's a bunch of books.
THE HAUNTING SEASON TINY TALES THE LEAGUE OF REGRETTABLE SIDEKICKS HISTORY'S WEIRDEST DEATHS STUPID ANCIENT HISTORY MORE BAD DAYS IN HISTORY A FLORIDA STATE OF MIND THE MAGIC OF MARIE LAVEAU HOW THE MIND CHANGED
NOW I KNOW THE LITTLE BOOK OF MISQUOTATIONS BUTTERFLIES OF NORTH AMERICA WHEN ANIMALS RESCUE U.S. GUIDE TO VENOMOUS SNAKES AND THEIR MIMICS KNOW YOUR CLOUDS THE SECRET LIFE OF FUNGI
Obviously, I didn't include their subtitles.

Not at all. Those came to about $108 with shipping.
As I say, some I might hold on to, others will eventually make their way into the book box. It doesn't seem to really need my help with book infusions anymore, which is great. Seems to get a fair amount of traffic, with decent people actually taking and replacing with their own books. This is just observations from being around the house a LOT more for the past five weeks.

Huh. I was just idly checking to see how easy it would be for someone to track those titles I listed just googling by their titles (sans subtitles). Looks like I saved upwards of $20-30 easy over ordering them off Amazon.

Good to hear! The LFL down the road from me is always packed with books, but whoever built it attached a shitty little note to the front saying that the books are not being returned in a timely manner and if that continues, "this collection can no longer continue to be curated." Obviously this person has no idea how a LFL is supposed to work, but to me the point is that people are using it.

Just discovered that ER Hamilton now allows online shopping. It had taken a blood oath never to do so last time I checked. I sent for some stuff.
