I thought that was Liam Neeson. He does sometimes take overlong breaks in between films.

I thought that was Liam Neeson. He needs to play this guy in the inevitable biopic.

When i was much younger, I used to enjoy a couple of book series' called The Year's Best Horror Stories and The Year's Best Science Fiction Stories. Are there any similar current short horror collections these days? Just kind of interested in seeing what directions the genre is headed in nowadays.

Ended up visiting Barnes & Noble and picking up this volume from 2022. Looking forward to diving in, but I need to clear a few half-read books out of the way first.

Odd moment in history to read a book about a submersible coming to grief while exploring the wreck of the "Titanic," but that's how I roll. ![](https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/P/0312929994.01._SX540_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg)

They have titles come out periodically like THE MAMMOTH BOOK OF TEEN VAMPIRE EROTICA, THE MAMMOTH BOOK OF REALLY BOSS NEW SCIENCE FICTION, THE MAMMOTH BOOK OF SPLATTERUNK, collections like that.

No Angels and Rough Trade by Steve Jackson; The Birds by Frank Baker; Fairy Tale by SK; September 11: An Oral History by Dean Murphy; Devil's Teeth by Susan Casey. Way too lazy to scare up all the book jackets.

Thanks! Will look into those. For Halloween this year, I'll be continuing on in one I purchased a few years ago and stalled out on called 101 Chilling Tales: Great Horror Stories compiled by Stefan Dziemianowicz. Please don't ask me how to pronounce that last name. I got about a third of the way in, so still plenty of spooky stories to read through October. My only complaint with this book is it doesn't give any more info on each story than the title and writer. They're obviously oldies judging by the writing and dialogue, but no clue as to origin dates or publications they appeared in. Sure, I can look that up myself, but still...

Just retrieved two from my mailbox. Road Kill by Kinky Friedman, and Flashman and the Mountain of Light by George MacDonald Fraser. Might be a bit before I get around to either. Just stocking up on retirement reads.

This was a mainstay in our house for years. I had not even thought about it in decades, when it somehow came up in conversation with my sister, who was kind enough to bring over the original book! Talk about unlocking core memories!
