You've come a long way, baby! And amazingly, that fragrance line has outlasted much better ones that didn't suggest kiddy porn to potential buyers, like Max Factor's Green Apple or that other one that smelled like grass and sunflowers... |

I just had this conversation at a home visit. We both remember a really old commercial that starts with:
"We're going to give this plastic bowl something it can keep forever."
(A dead fish is slung into the bowl.)
"FISH ODOR!"
But neither of us could remember what they were advertising so I can't look it up. I know someone here will remember. |

Yes, I remember it, too.
I thought of Tupperware, but they didn't advertise on TV, just did their parties to promote their products, right?
Oh well, I'll stop typing on this thread and start my net searches.

Goldie I did some searches on u-tube commercials of the 1970s, and others without any date, and came up with pretty much the same thing.
I kind of think that searching u-tube might be the wrong place to look.
Yes, I remember that commercial very well. Also, I saw that Tupperward commercials went back many years, so their products were not advertised only at their parties.

Here's a description for one that I don't remember, but a fellow member of CHFB is looking for, and I think you ZAQBers would also like if it can be found:
"I would like to see the old HBO commercial where the Grim Reaper comes to collect a guy who is watching HBO. The Reaper sits down & starts watching & is enjoying himself but ends up laughing himself to death."
Let's all be good Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and do a Good Turn (and I won't take that one further into anything uh, suggestive and possibly offensive to any ladies here on the board) and try to find the Grim Reaper commercial the CHFBer is looking for.
I know we've had one Grim Reaper commercial on here, and it would be great to add the HBO Grim Reaper to our collection.

That one wasn't on the air for long but we kids sang the jingle for years. It was a guaranteed laugh. |

I found yet another "laughing Levi's" commercial with the same jingle -- one I have in fact seen on TV -- but it's still the wrong one. We did get a good laugh out of this as kids, naturally assuming that the colored smoke in the commercial was butt methane:

Goldie, all of those Levis commercials are New To Me, and many thanks for showing me some good ones that I missed.
Deely, I never knew that David Bowie did any TV commercials. Was that his One and Only?

He was in an ad for MTV, but that doesn't feel like it counts.
I don't have any specific memory of that Levi's song, and yet the 'haw haw' bit really rings a note with me. I wonder if I'm thinking of another song or if I did indeed hear this. Seems likely I would have at some point.
There is no question in my mind that the animators who made the 'Evolution' spot are the same people who made Yellow Submarine. There are just too many stylistic similarities for it not to be. |
