"Gosh, why don't they make good wholesome kids movies anymore? Oh wait, here's one! You have no idea how long it took me to decide I just couldn't keep the Blind Dead arm Jeff had made.

Some of the finest brains in my work territory have failed to clear this up.
This one kid's yearly plan expired and we had to do a new one. But I was positive it hadn't been a year yet. How could it be? I thought sure I came in on this kid's case at the end of the last school year, maybe March or so, and then worked with him through the summer. When I brought over the new paperwork for dad to sign, he said the same thing, and pointed out that I never came over when there was snow on the ground. Yeah, you're right, quoth I. So how can it be a full year since treatment started?
But I pulled up his chart and it's there in black and white: the case opened in August and I first met with him in September of last year. Somehow, despite the fact that he lives on a crappy dirt road that would have potholes in it big enough to swallow my car in the cold season, I managed to visit him all through winter WITHOUT NOTICING THAT IT WAS WINTER.

Dedication...or obliviousness? If the former, good on ya. If the latter, may the powers that be mistake it for the former.

It makes me think of Daryl from The Walking Dead. Like, that one season where he goes off the rails? Instead of a zombie ear necklace...

Yes, it's old Dr. Kobb's first day on Wish.com (in case you were wondering).

OK, it's December in Michigan. Can someone explain to me why the lawn crew is out there mowing? They were out last week, too. The hell?

As a house-owner for the past four years now, it is a genuinely strange feeling to sit here today with nothing pressing to attend to. I used to try to allow myself a day with nothing on the "to do" list at least twice monthly back when I rented. Anyway, it feels good, and I was beginning to wonder if I'd ever get to enjoy a day like this again.

Kobb Presents: Our Quixotic Universe! Socks invariably come out of the dryer inside-out...even if they've been placed in the dryer that way! Quixotic, but true!

I took a moment after this morning's trauma assessment to read the sleeve on the Hu's album, which was playing moodily over the speakers as I sat in the parking lot. I saw with dismay that my initial impression was correct: they used a faux-Runic font for the album and song titles, fairly difficult to read.
Say what you will about Genghis Khan and his armies spreading far and wide -- I am morally certain that no Mongol, then or now, has ever communicated using the Runic alphabet.

Having a time deciding on whether to attend this year's Pensacon or not. I've been to all four previous ones. Several factors made last year's less-than-ideal for me. This year probably has less of the sorts of panels and events of interest to me. I dunno. If I do, it'll probably be a last minute thing.

Here's the most bafflingly ironic bumper sticker I've ever seen:

An old lizard such as myself would show up looking for an autograph if Pensacon wasn't on the opposite end of the country... https://www.instagram.com/p/B9J6B9rjCho

I did see her when we made a quick run through the celebrity rooms, but I didn't stop to ask her anything. I didn't bother most of the celebs I was interested in seeing, actually. I did take a moment to gush at Carel Struycken.
