I'm really bad about this thread. Some time back I got a thing from Billy, and yesterday I checked my mail (which I don't do nearly enough at my home address since it's 95% junk mail that comes there) and got a cool halloween card from Kobb Labs. And it even had the "Cool Dude" in the address line! I still remember the first time I tried that gag with you guys years back at Mez, and Grendel sent me something instead with "Weenus" in the name. SMD didn't let that go for years.

I did finally get a lettter from Dave Szurek, but with my having so many projects going, have not been able to post any more of his stuff to CHFB.
I plan, with my ability to travel to places that would normally be open, closed for the holdays, and my being able to just stay at the shack as a recluse, do a lot of reading, and a lot of net postiing. One Project I have been working on, is the World Beyond Project of doing a list of all films that Parker covers in his book of that title. I'm planning to post that list to CHFB, but will probably give Deeky the honor of having it first posted on CHFB. I had two different film titles missing from the list by dates of showing, and my alphabetical Master List with 4 non-alphabetical titles, and had a very hard time finding the titles, which delayed that project. And, with dealing with the bats, I gave my patio screen doors a very good inspection today and found a torn place a bat, and that bat early Thursday morning, could have gotteninto my shack thru.
I sealed that hole with tape and also sealed sealed a crack where the sliding glass door did not close completely, with masking tape, and since then, have occasionally been hearing some horrible sound like some animal in distress. The wind has been blowing, and I'm wondering if sealing that crack could cause that dreadful sound to keep occuring. I took that masking tape off and have not heard it again.
I don't like being a recluse, and a shut in with no place to go, and nothing to do but sit at a computer keyboard, or reading books, or watching videos, or other projects, but sometimes can get into it, and accomplish some Good Things. Sorry I have gotten off the topic of It Came In The mail, which I will return to.

Now, what came in the mail today? Among nice gifts from friends and family, a package from Kobb Labs, with Wakefield Poole's Bible! and the Jobriath documentary.
Since I've seen Bible! with the director commentary, no reason to watch it first, so I'll start watching the Jobriath documentary first. Many thanks to Dr. Kobb for sending
those two DVDs in the mail.

Last year was the first year in my life I ever sent Christmas cards. I used up most of a supply I had, and might have 3 left that I could still send to people this year.
But, it would be a very difficult selection to make as to who to send the cards to.
Forry said, in a fanzine that everyone who knew him knew he did not celebrate Christmas, and if anyone's birthday should be celebrated it would be the birth of SF pioneers H.G. Wells and Hugo Gernsback (or is it Gernsbeck?)
Forry did say it was OK for people to keep sending him Christmas cards, tho, because they were pretty to look at, and he gave them to children at an orphanage, who very much liked the cards.
Wasn't that nice of Forry?
I might have told that story before, but it's a good 'un, and it is worth repeating.

Mayz sent what is probably the coolest Christmas card I've ever received. I now know what holidays at the crazy brood from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre's house probably looks like!

Thanks to Dr.Kobb, I have been watching the extras on the wakefield Pool's "Bible!" DVD,including an introduction where Mr. Pool appears on camera to briefly discuss the film. Plus a trailer, where the title is "In The Beginning," and the actors and actresses screen tests. Next will be a 1977 interview with Mr. Poole, and the costume tests and special effects tests.
Once again many thanks to Dr. Kobb for sending this, as well as the Jobriath a.d. DVD to me.

Cool! Glad you got some use out of them. You know, I've never watched that "Bible!" film myself. I'm not sure I could, to be honest. It's pretty slow going. I think it's an earnest and visually lovely presentation, but it's not something for the casual viewer. Arthouse fare masquerading as porn...or visa-versa.
I'm about to sit down to "Bird Bath" or "Bird Brain", or whatever that fucking movie everyone's talking about.
