As I promised my good friend and our Webmaster, Deeky Wentworth, I've saved the adult entertainment section from Page 78 of the LA Times, of July 25, 1975. Sometimes the First is the Best, and sometimes the First Is The Worst, so I'm not sure how this one will turn out. I was able to save it as a pdfile, which I don't know if this board will accept as an attactment or not. But, I've got to get started, so here goes . . .

Well, Deeky, and all you other ZAQBers, I had Success. When I clicked on the attachment, it went to a folder on my computer, and when I clicked on the foler, it opened, and the enlargement of my viewer gave a good, sharp image.

The LA Times of July 25, 1975, had a 2nd page of Adult Entertainment listings, on page 79, following the one of page 78 in my last attachment. The real delight, to me, is the Vista theater's ad for the program with "Andy Warhol's Notorious Vapors." As all film fans worth their salt should know, Vapors was an Andy Milligan film, not an Andy Warhol film.

Intimate Teens, starring...someone's Aunt Linda, I'm guessing?

Deeky and Marxo, glad that you liked the posts, and there is More Where Those Came From.
While I think that pdf gives the best images, I also have the option of saving the newspaper pages, or parts of them, as JPG files. I'll try to attach a JPG of one of the 2 previous files also saved as PDF, and see what the results are.
Well, I tried it and got the red letter message: "unable to attach, file too big."
So, I'll stick with pdf for these larger sections of the newspaper pages.

Now, let's go to the LA Times of Friday, June 14, 1974. On Page 95, California Superman, the blasphemous Jesus film that was released a year or more before Ed D Louie's HIM, is playing at the Paris theatre. And in the Paris note the preview showing of Wakefield Poole's Bible, the film that Al Goldstein soundly denounced in the review following the one he wrote for HIM. When Mr. Goldstein saw the film in NYC, it had been changed from its original title of Wakefield Poole's Bible to Wakefield Poole's BC Scandals, to avoid offending people. I think Wakefield Poole's Bible or BC Scandals was a total box office bomb and didn't play for long anywhere, and this preview showing in LA is the only one I know of other than the (how long did it play?) at the Lincoln Art in NYC. Maybe the preview showing at the Paris in LA was a total disaster there too, because I didn't notice any regular runs for the film in LA, even for one week only. Following Page 95, is Page 96 with more X rated ads.

This reminded me of the line from Tom Waits "colder than the ticket-taker's smile at the Ivar Theater."

I managed to pull out the gay ads on a few pages. What do you think the Xanadu Pleasuredome's new policy is?

Deeky, I would presume the Xanadu's new policy was showing all male films.
You probably know that Los Banditos starred Jamie Gillis, who, like John Holmes, did mostly straight films.
Marc Stevens seems to have been the star of straight films who did the most all male films.
That webpage, forget the name, that had the story of the Peanut Butter Freak guy, had a long, two part story of Marc's life, and the sad end of it, which included interviews with Marc's sisters, as well as many other people who knew him.
There are so many intriguing stories about so many porno stars on that page, I just don't have the time to read them all, or even a few. I did not read the story of Mr. Infinity, who self-sucked, with a cucumber stuck you can guess where, I suppose a one-time novelty act, and not a regular shtick like Ron Jeremy did.
When Love Match, "guest starring" John C. Holmes played at the all male houses in Chicago, and probably other cities, John went on a personal appearance tour, with patrons of the houses being given free 8 X 10 photos of John for him to autograph.
I think Jamie Gillis and Marc Stevens also did some of those tours, although I don't recall any free photos.
After Marc Stevens faded out of the straight film scene, and did more gay films, one ad, although I don't know if it was from an LA house, said, that Harry Reems, Georgina Spelvin and other stars of 1970s porno chic were gone, and only Marc Stevens remained.
Well, actually, in the 1980s, Harry Reems did return to porno films, a decade after that newspaper ad, or ads.

I honeymooned not too far from here. Deeky, Marxo, and Dr. Kobb, glad this thread is going well and some more goodies are on the way. Since there were often 2 pages of Adult Entertainment ads in the LA Times, Good Things Come in Twos here. Sometimes there was only one page and I think even rarely there might have been three pages. I found three ads including Vapors, so that might be my next entry. On the Zoomerang ad, while I thought the title was an obvious variation on Boomerang, what that guy in the ad is holding looks more like a tennis racket than a boomerang, or whatever variation of a boomerang a zoomerang might be.

OK, as Promised in my last post. From the LA Times of Saturday, April 27, 1974, page 39 (only one page of Adult Entertainment ads that day, but still of interest). Down at the bottom of the page, the Paris theater is running, Vapors, "Extra: Most Controversial Gay Art Film 'Vapors' " Higher up on the page, to the left, The Vista is running Johnny Holmes films for the third week, with a photo of a young John C. in his pre-pornstache days. And, above the Vista, the very tiny, 2 col, but very short ad for the All Male Quickie theater. Slight goof on my description of the Quickie theater ad being 2 cols. It was the right col ad of a two column ad with the Classic Art house in the left column.

Tennis but with more ass fucking. Oh, dear! I don't know what's wrong with Billy A Anderson, because earlier in the day he wroe a reply to this one, but he must have pressed the wrong button, because that reply is not on the thread.
I thought Zoomerang could be a pun on boomerang, but what that guy in the film's ad is holding doesn't look anything like a boomerang, whch I would think a zoomerang would resemble in some way. The only thing I can think of it looks like is a tennis racket.
