Was listening to NPR's "Fresh Air" on the drive back across the bridge from Mom's earlier and they brought up a show called "Schmigadoon" on AppleTV. It's a satire of the exact kinds of old 40's/50's musicals I've been watching at Ma's, and now I gotta see it. Just downloaded the first season. I mainly want to see that because Cecily Strong is in it. She's amazing on SNL. Yeah, they were interviewing Cecily Strong before switching over to "Schmigadoon's" director. Funny lady!

Just stumbled onto a treasure trove of "retro science" images through a newsgroup search. Over 300 pages with fifty images per page.

A highly praised biography film on Frank Zappa by Alex Winter (who will be appearing at this year's Pensacon, btw).

I used to have a shitty VHS transfer of this (click here!) movie on tape back in the early 2000's. I had long since lost the tape and forgotten the name of the movie, but sure would like to score a decent print, preferably subbed or dubbed. It's not available through Amazon. Not sure where else to look for it.

I'd also lovelovelove finding a print(s) of the TV show "100 Scariest Movie Moments". I'm not sure it ever got a DVD or Blu-Ray release, though.

I see that my once favorite band Jethro Tull are finally headed across the Atlantic again. They had one or two tours planned during the pandemic years, but those obviously got cancelled. They aren't coming anywhere near here (no surprise), but I have to hand it to Ian Anderson for sheer longevity.

I just today discovered there was a documentary/appreciation piece on the movie "The Monster Squad", and it's called "Wolfman's Got Nards".

And I had not thought about the 1976 TV series Monster Squad in eons. I vaguely recall feeling a similar disdain for it that El Santo had for the patronizing attitude of the kids shows he mentioned elsewhere. It was like, "I should love this! It's monsters!" But even then, I craved real scares. I could tell Monster Squad would be Batman-style silliness, but with the classic monsters as the good guys. Fuck that. Of course now, having viewed the first episode nearly half a century later, it felt like peak comfy! I even had a bowl of goddamn Booberry while I watched. I'm completely serious about that.

My discovery is that it's hard to locate a print of "My Truth: The Rape of Two Coreys" (2020). Like, someone wanted that shit buried.
